I would say to atleast try out photoshop, you can download a free 30day trial at Adobe.com
Photoshop is industry standard software, meaning not only is it the best of the best, but is an essential skill to learn.
I thankfully got photoshop fro free as my dad works with it at home. so I would spend the £/$ on new kit. but i stand by my statement that photoshop is an essential piece of software to learn...if you want to pursue photography or any artistic career ofcourse.
