Perhaps you should just emphasize one aspect as your focus and let the others be secondary. Lowering the horizon line so that it is not directly in the center and removing the reflection might work. Thanks for your kind words and advice. I am having tons of fun learning.
After reading your hints and further reading on composition and the rule of thirds I had to run down to the beach for some more shooting.
Here is what I came up with:
