I just received my tripod today! The wife came home with it as a Valentine's gift. She can't save a gift until the actual holiday for her life, LOL.

Since we're rather broke, it's a cheapie. I had looked at $30, $50, $80 tripods at the local Ritz store (only store around for me) and they were all junk. She bought the $30 one at Walmart and for $30, I am thoroughly impressed. I certainly wouldn't compare it to a $300 job like some of you have, or use it for a n expensive dSLR with a heavy lens, but for my cheap light fixed lens, it looks like it will be just fine.

It has a pan/tilt head. I only have a day's worth of experimenting with it, but I would think I would like this better than a ball head. I think using a ball head, it would be difficult to keep the camera level when moving it around. I think it would be easier to level the tripod, then you don't have to worry about it any more when you move the camera around.

No dSLR for me. Just a little Fuji S700 and a cheap Walmart tripod.

Feel free to edit anything I post on DPS for repost on DPS.
