i am not suggesting this as a replacement for a tripod all together but I think comes in handy outdoors in the trees and on rocks or anywhere you aren't going to get a good footing for a tripod. Plus the wrapping the legs around something like a fence or railing or tree limb is something a tripod wont get you.
I think for the money its not that bad of a buy.
