Do You Share The Images You Take Online?
Time for a new POLL.
Do You Share The Images You Take Online – if so, how often?
I know many of our readers do share photos online on photoblogs or via photo sharing services like Flickr – but this poll is looking at not only IF you do it but how regularly.
Once you’ve voted I’d be interested to hear a little about where you share your photos also (photosharing, photoblog… both/other) and why you’ve chosen to use that medium. If you’ve selected ‘No’ I’d be interested to hear why you’ve chosen not to also (privacy, no access to the technology etc).
Looking forward to seeing the poll result and discussion on this one.

I have a smugmug account and put my pictures there both to share and as a cloud-backup.

I feel better now
kind regards everybody!!

I use Picasa to post most of my photos. Mainly because it’s easy to access and use for my family and the Organizations where I take photos. It’s easier for those people to click on a link to the photos rather than opening attachments to e-mails.

I use Flickr Pro for my photos, I upload about 3 a day. But if I haven’t took any recent photos and have none to upload, I at least try to get a photo in once a week. But I took a good size photo walk the other day so I have about 7 more photos to upload.
I actually really like Flickr, It’s simple, easy to use and with Flickr Pro, you don’t get any ads, so it’s even cleaner design, which is what I like.
I use to use DevaintART, but thats not really a photo sharing site, but I guess a lot of people use them too.
But i’m sticking to Flickr right now, I met many great photographers on Flickr.
I think Flickr is a great way to share your photos and also back them up too. I always upload the full res, so if something does happen to my photos, i’ll still have a copy of them.

I chose to create a Photo Blog in order to house the 365 Photo-a-day project that would keep me motivated to pick up my camera and either go out to take photos or try the different setups I have built at home. This project has also helped me become very familiar with all the photo equipment I own, from camera body functions to lenses and flash units. My photo blog is located at http://miguelphotoart.blogspot.com/
I also share my photos in Flickr because most of my family members live far away from me. And this way they can choose when and how often to view them and order prints if they want to. My Flickr page is located at http://www.flickr.com/photos/miguelcarvajal

I own a blog in blogger where I post new shot every once in a while. Aaron’s Photo Blog
March 14th, 2010 at 6:17 am
I have a flickr account but have recently setup my own web site which I plan to use for my best images and use flickr more for snaps.
For me photography is about getting out in the landscape and making a few stunning shots, as Ansel Adams said “Twelve significant photographs in any one year is a good crop.” Last year I produced 11 I was happy with.
I spend all day in front of a computer working I don’t want to be there all evening post processing so 99.9% of my images never get seen.
March 14th, 2010 at 6:20 am
I have my own website but I haven’t updated it for a few years. All of my new photos – done digitally – I uploaded to my Facebook account. I’m probably going to create a photo wiki after awhile and switch to that for my photos.
Here’s what I find ironic – I rarely print off my photos (as in only one or two per year). Digital photography has made me rethink my output, having gone down the digital imagescape.
March 14th, 2010 at 6:22 am
I upload photos to my Flickr account a few times per week, and sometimes I post a few on my blog. I like the feedback that I get from other Flickr members.
March 14th, 2010 at 6:22 am
I have a SmugMug account which has a really nice layout for sharing.
I also post in photography forums with my pictures to get feedback.
March 14th, 2010 at 6:26 am
I use Flickr, and I also use Picasa as a backup.
In addition, new or not, I highlight one of my pictures from Flicker, per weekday, for my twitter followers.
March 14th, 2010 at 6:28 am
Multiple times a week, I upload photos to my Flickr account. Not daily though as it takes up quite a bit of time. But my photostream in not in an order with photos from different periods of time getting uploaded as an when I feel like it!
March 14th, 2010 at 6:30 am
yep…. flickr…. although currently not as enthousiastically as I used to…. but then again I’m not makeing many pics at the moment either….
March 14th, 2010 at 6:31 am
I started a Project365 on my blog on Jan 1st after I got my first DSLR for Christmas (Nikon D90) and haven’t missed a day yet. It’s really helping me improve my technical skills as I move from auto to manual control of my camera. Warning, if you visit me, I’m NSFW or for kids.
March 14th, 2010 at 6:34 am
I use Flickr as well, and usually post new pics a couple of times a week. Other than that I recently started a facebook group “BWSphotography” as an online portfolio. Using this platform I have been able to take on some pro-bono work enabling me to advertise my work, as well as some paid work to fund my obsession.
March 14th, 2010 at 6:35 am
I upload most of mine to Flickr. As much as I’d love to make a living as a photobug, I’m not at that level. So I share the images I do have with others, particularly those in education so that they can have access to a Creative Commons library of resources. I use it as a way to highlight copyright and intellectual property issues so that they grow up to be good netizens!
March 14th, 2010 at 6:37 am
I have shared them daily via smugmug, flickr, some through Facebook, but now my main sharing tool is through ijak.wordpress.com which references images on my smugmug site.
March 14th, 2010 at 6:46 am
I mainly use Flickr and my blog, but I do upload some to my Facebook page.
March 14th, 2010 at 6:46 am
I used to upload to Flickr daily, but now I upload most of my photos to either Facebook or my blog. I swapped because Flickr was such a time drain and since giving my daughter was born I don’t have the time for it anymore which is a huge shame.
March 14th, 2010 at 6:46 am
I use smugmug to facilitate a professional website and to use as a my portfolio.
I use FLICKR to share my photos with others.
I have a blog called: 52MONOCHROME which is integrated with my professional website hosted with smugmug where I write about the fine art of monochrome photography. Two publications weekly: SMITH’S WEEKLY BEST PHOTO and MONOCHROME IMAGE OF THE WEEK.
Want to know more about the nature of these publications, come on by for a visit! I’d love to have you!
March 14th, 2010 at 6:49 am
I was using Picasa (10GB). The space was not sufficient and the photos look crappy.
So I moved to Flickr (Pro account)…now I use it as an online backup and for sharing too!! It’s awesome!!!

Yes, I Flickr too quite regularly (posted my 100th there today!) I enjoy the variety of groups there, not so much the rather frivolous awards. Also post at my blog as a kind of diary, with a few comments / EXIF details.
I am founder and admin for which I set up especially for people who want constructive comments and tips for learning new techniques.
March 14th, 2010 at 6:52 am
Hi There,
I generally will update to Flickr once a month but when it comes to my blog then that can be several times weekly. When I update the blog, I’ll also update my Facebook Page also.
Social Media is a big thing as we all know nowadays and I have found that by using these Free services my presence on the net has increased and on the back of that I’m continually developing a bigger presence on the net; on the back of that…better hits on my site resulting in more enquiries for work.
Cheers,
Glyn
March 14th, 2010 at 6:54 am
Mostly I share my photos through Facebook and my blog.. Normally once or twice a week depends if there’s any functions going on..
March 14th, 2010 at 6:59 am
I publish pictures on Gather and various other sites. I like Gather because you get rewarded for something you like i.e. Photography and writing.
March 14th, 2010 at 7:01 am
Most of my photos I upload through Facebook and my blog.. Normally I upload once or twice a week.. It depends if there’s a function going on..
March 14th, 2010 at 7:04 am
RedBubble is my favourite. DeviantArt, comes second, then Picasa. I am sure Flickr is very good but I can’t stand the appearance. The colours and clutter offends me.
March 14th, 2010 at 7:33 am
I use photobucket to share photos in forums and facebook to share with friends and family
March 14th, 2010 at 7:47 am
I post a photo a day on my blog.
I also post numerous photos of Vancouver’s Carnival Band on flickr pro whenever they play a gig, minimum once a month but usually more often. Other shots I post if and when I happen to take a shot I’m pleased with.

March 14th, 2010 at 7:55 am
I have a blog where most of my friends see the pictures.
I take lots of pictures of my 2 year old that I upload to Kodak Gallery and then invite most of my family that will not check the blog by themselves.
Then I have a Flickr account. I’ve decided to get a pro account and to start a 365 about my son’s third year of life.
I usually upload pics once a week, but I really enjoy watching pics of people that have the time to upload more frequently than once a week.
I LOVE Flickr. I have the app on my iPhone and I check it daily.
March 14th, 2010 at 8:04 am
I use blogspot for my photo blog and flickr.
March 14th, 2010 at 8:05 am
as I am doing a “photo a day” project this year I upload to my blog – lavenderlacephotos.blogspot, plus I use flickr
March 14th, 2010 at 8:09 am
Mine is weekly too. Although its almost 3-4 uploads per week. In other words I upload every alternate day.
March 14th, 2010 at 8:14 am
Yes, on deviantart. Thinking about my own gallery of photos and manips, but not sure when and why I’ll do that. I don’t have strict schedule, I post when I have something I’d like to show or to get some feedback on.
BTW, last two polls didn’t work in Chrome.
March 14th, 2010 at 8:20 am
Sharing the images are a great way to get critique and feedback. I just wrote an article ‘How Are You Viewed?’
http://grtaylor2.com/2010/02/how-are-you-viewed-do-you-care/
I use my blog, FLickr, Facebook and my portfolio to get my images out there to the world – unless they are licensed or a private shoot.
March 14th, 2010 at 8:20 am
I use both Flickr, Facebook & Windows Live Photo Gallery for sharing with family & friends.
March 14th, 2010 at 8:59 am
I’m a hobbyist, and the only posting I do is thumbs of my digital scrapbook layouts. I post versions that don’t include location, names or other personal information if people are in the photos. My other photos are shared with family and friends privately via download. Main issue with me as a hobbyist is that pictures are often of grandchildren. I’m a retired computer teacher and it actually frightens me to see how many personal details are posted online about children. Not a good idea on SO many levels.
Not a prime layout example but one that doesn’t violate copyright or privacy. ;-}
March 14th, 2010 at 9:01 am
I try to post as often as daily, but some weeks are harder than others. The weather doesn’t cooperate, or I just don’t feel like dragging my camera along when I do something photogenic. I have a photoblog and a Flickr stream. My best ones go to the photoblog (http://bit.ly/fauxto); I post smaller sets on Flickr. I like feedback, but I don’t get a whole lot via either.
March 14th, 2010 at 9:38 am
I use Shuttercal.com. I like it because it’s a photo a day, kind of like a photo-blog. And then at the end of the month, if you want, you can get prints for the whole month delivered to your home. I also have photos on Flickr & Facebook too, but I like S/C because it prompts me to take at least 1 photo a day.
March 14th, 2010 at 9:42 am
I’ve finally activated my Flickr account as I start down the path of amateur photography but I’ve got the family collection sitting on a Picasa, locked behind account settings. As I’m working off a netbook while away, I guess my outputs going to be low, hopefully I can change that once I can properly use flickr’s flash uploader…
March 14th, 2010 at 10:10 am
I have a couple (!) of websites that I use to host pictures, and this year I’ve started a 365 Photo-a-Day project. The photo-a-day site is a heavily customized MovableType blog. I also use Flickr, but mainly for sharing snapshots of friends and colleagues.
March 14th, 2010 at 10:30 am
I share everyday because I’m doing a 365 Day project to improve my photography. I upload my images to flickr (because it’s a great deal) and I can use larger sizes if I want and then I post them on my blogger – because it’s free and because I can share anything I want and also my friends, who are doing the 365 project also use blogger, but mainly because it’s free.
March 14th, 2010 at 10:45 am
I only upload stuff I think is worth for other people to watch. If I’d make enough good stuff I’d post daily but usually I can post a few photos every week.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/baarr/
March 14th, 2010 at 10:56 am
i post photos periodically on Flickr pro and on facebook. most of my photos are my pets or my friend’s pets — i would like to incorporate photography into the petsitting business i am establishing but i’m not “good” yet — just still at the “lucky” stage with the shots i get.
March 14th, 2010 at 11:22 am
I love to share on line but there are too many people harvesting images off the web and not paying for their use.
March 14th, 2010 at 11:26 am
I have a Smugmug acct.
But I don’t seem to sell like I’d like to online.
I think it really makes a difference if you show people their pics in person!
That WOW factor, with mood, music, food, comfort!
All the seminars I have been to also say this but it is soo much easier to put them online…..I have realized that I need to set up time to show photos in person and give ideas and options!
March 14th, 2010 at 12:07 pm
I share my 365 photos on Flickr. I share other photos on my blog with Picasa (because that is how Live Writer is set up) and still other photos, with overlap from the first two groups, on Facebook. Plus I use smugmug as my offsite back up for all of my photos with everything all locked up as private.
March 14th, 2010 at 12:11 pm
I maintain a number of thematic galleries on PBase. I generally try to add a couple of photos a week.
March 14th, 2010 at 12:37 pm
I upload my photos to flickr, and also have two blogs — one for weekly posts and a 365 project
March 14th, 2010 at 12:48 pm
i only post images on Flickr I think might stir up creative discussion.
Since most of my attention has been on my son since his birth I’m not doing much creatively these days. The poor kid lives in lens hood. Once he’s off to school and busy with friends I’ll start up again.
I once tried to do a 365 on Flickr but found it much harder than expected to carry around a 5+ pound camera and lens combo much less shoot something interesting everyday. I only made it to day 45 before I missed a day, then it just unravelled and by day 110 I was hopelessly lost and had to scrap the project.
March 14th, 2010 at 1:31 pm
I am in a Flick’r group that is taking a picture and posting them daily. I don’t know what I am going to do with the 365 pictures come January 1, 2011, but it will be nice to see my year in pictures. Also I post an album every few weeks of pictures to share with friends and family on Facebook.
March 14th, 2010 at 1:53 pm
I try to post weekly, but that doesn’t always work. I use Picasa for my private (family and friends) photos … trips, lunches, partys, etc. I use Flickr for more more creative/interesting/thoughtful (for me) photos that might have some appeal to others. Flickr also lets me cruise others’ work. Some of what is on Flickr is excellent.
March 14th, 2010 at 2:02 pm
I regularly upload my favorite pictures and any pictures I plan on posting to my blog onto flickr. At the beginning of the year I started a 365 project as well. I combined that project with my desire to try Typepad’s new microblog format, and launched a photoblog, 3(six)5 (http://www.justlikethenumber.com/3six5/)
March 14th, 2010 at 2:03 pm
Yep!
I’m on ShutterCal.com talking one photo every day
March 14th, 2010 at 2:04 pm
shared on facebook for friends and relatives, and flickr for some random shot which i think is nicely taken.
March 14th, 2010 at 2:15 pm
It will seem like I am in the minority considering all the above comments but I do not share my photos for one simple reason. I sell them, they are my living. Why put something up where it could be copied and used without compensation or permission? It is nice to share and get comments as one is learning to shoot it is a completely different story when your daily bread depends on the images you take.
March 14th, 2010 at 2:48 pm
I have many outlets:
I use Flickr mostly for my camera phone photos, because it’s an easy way to share things quickly. And I have several apps that have interesting effects.
I use Redbubble as an archive, as that’s where I started posting photos, since they have the ability to sell photos and have at least some safeguards against downloading and such.
I use my own domain to host some photos, mostly for my website galleries – but I’m currently reconfiguring it to host WordPress galleries and Fotomoto integration. It’s kind of a hot mess right now, but I’m working on it.
I also use Tumblr to release photos, as it has a pretty much foolproof uploader and Twitter/FB integration for the work I’m currently doing in a blog format.
March 14th, 2010 at 2:51 pm
I share my photos on Flickr (photos I’ve taken the time to really shoot and edit), my blog (for storytelling purposes) and on FB to share with friends and family.
March 14th, 2010 at 3:06 pm
I do a project 365 – and share my work on Flickr and on my private blog. Every day I post the “photo of the day” to Flickr, and once a week – on sunday – i post the pictures for that particular week on my blog. My photos on Flickr are with comments in English while my blogposts are with comments in Danish.
Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/adambindslev/
Blog: http://www.adambindslev.dk/
March 14th, 2010 at 3:32 pm
I share a photo a day on my Project365 website on squarespace: http://www.emptiful.com, photos from trips and photowalks on my flickr and personal photos on my facebook.
March 14th, 2010 at 3:59 pm
I use Picasa to archive and share with family and Facebook, redbubble and some photo sites to share with friends and access critic
March 14th, 2010 at 4:38 pm
Flickr Pro. Im half way through my second 365. I love the flickr community (Ive been a bad contact for weeks because of school – sorry) and the unlimited everything on flickr. I dont consider my flickr an online backup because I dont put the unedited images up.
I guess I consider my flickr more of a photoblog than just sharing pictures. I found sumgmug and picasa were more about just pictures. with less community.
March 14th, 2010 at 4:42 pm
I started a 365 project this year, so I post daily on Shuttercal and flikr, and I also have a blog for my project. I use Shuttercal because I might use their printing service at the end of my project, and I use flikr because sometimes I want to post to DPS and they make it easy for me
I also like checking out other people’s work on those sites.
Photos I want to share with family and friends (holidays, special occasions, etc) are done through my mobileme gallery (Apple).
March 14th, 2010 at 4:43 pm
I post photos to Flickr, my photo blog http://9258photo.blogspot.com/ (but I’m really sporadic about posting to that), and to my Facebook account.
March 14th, 2010 at 4:51 pm
Well you didn’t say in there between 2 or 3 times a week so I put daily. But I post at various places nearly every day.
March 14th, 2010 at 6:34 pm
It depends on how busy I am and what exactly I’m doing. I use Flickr and my blog as a teaching tool more than anything else and my website as a show case for my work and also client galleries.
Another tool I use is Opera Unite, something that’s relatively new and unknown. I use it when I want to control the content and lock it down. This feature allows me to deal with clients with the gallery and/or the upload features.
In all I don’t share a lot of work I do, but I try to upload new content at least once a month.
March 14th, 2010 at 7:02 pm
I share my my photos on SmugMug (it’s a great backup-service too). I love SmugMug. There are so many different features and it’s really not expensive. I have a personal blog where I post photos which I feel need a little explaining or where they fit a certain text that I wrote. I also started an every-other day photo-blog about my hometown Vienna at http://viennaphoto.wordpress.com
March 14th, 2010 at 7:30 pm
I have a personal photoblog, where I share the image I loke most. Some came from my business travels (I carry often the camera with me), other during personal trips. I’ve done too some espositions, but I prefer the photoblog because I can show my images to much more viewers.
March 14th, 2010 at 7:49 pm
It varies a lot. I post pictures I’m pleased with (not many!) or because they’re for a specific group of people to see. In the last couple of weeks I’ve been indulging in The Daily Shoot, which has stimulated me toward posting 4 or 5 shots a week – and getting out of the office at lunchtime.
March 14th, 2010 at 9:39 pm
Hi Darren,
I just recently, in the past couple of months, started sharing pictures every day. I have a flickrPro account, and I’ve also had a blog for a couple of years now. I upload all my pictures to flickr, and participate in a couple of the project365 groups. In addition, I have my flickr pictures integrated into my blog using the Tan Flickr photo album wordpress plugin.
I make a new blog post every day, based on the photo that I choose for project365. The post isn’t necessarily about the picture itself … instead, I use the picture to inspire a topic I want to write about. It’s working out pretty good so far. My average daily traffic has increased about 225% since I started doing this in January. Plus, it’s also proven to be a good conversation starter with my friends on Facebook … where each blog post is also shared.
March 14th, 2010 at 10:15 pm
I use Picasa web albums to share my Photos, until recently i was using Flickr, but i wasn’t really satisfied with their free service. You can see my Photo Blog here http://bit.ly/asaQTx
March 14th, 2010 at 10:17 pm
I post them several places
1) for family stuff and albums for the eyes of only select people, I use Picassa
2) when I have time to critique other people’s shots as well as posting my own with detailed notes, I use TrekLens – I love their layout and the whole critiquing/workshopping/sharing aspect – but to participate properly requires a serious investment of time for each image that I post
3) for sharing with a wider community which includes the many folks who might appear in the pictures I take at the seminary where I am right now (as a student and as the in-house photographer), I use Facebook – the vast majority of my classmates are on my friends list, as is about half the faculty. When I post, they all get notified and I get enough feed-back to let me know that they appreciate this
March 14th, 2010 at 10:47 pm
I share my photos on my blog and also on flickr. Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/flixel) mostly for critique and opinion as I have quickly learned what I think is a good photo isn’t necessarily what others value. We started a little group called tweeting photos that tweets photos from a flickr group for critique that also works well – http://www.twitter.com/tweetingphotos
March 14th, 2010 at 10:51 pm
i use Iweb.. also the http://gallery.me.com/carlotinha also with some groups on facebook and also http://www.dpreview.com/galleries/7135940499/photos and on their forums…
Iweb and gallery.me i have it since they make it possible… i am a ac addicted … face book is great for friends and family to see them also … dpreview is great to learn more about my camera and about photography… i have Olympus E-P2 and i enjoy the ppl on the Olympus talk forum

I write a monthly column about retiring to Colombia and since I have been a Pro Photog in past years it was logical to illustrate the column. I use Photobucket to handle the images primarily because there were fewer obstacles there than on other services Since I am financially challenged I use an older Kodak Superzoom (Z7950) that a nephew found on clearance in Radio Shack several years ago.
March 14th, 2010 at 11:27 pm
I keep a current portfolio on my web site and upload something to Flickr about once a week. http://www.flickr.com/photos/goldenwreckedangle/
I may be a little unique in this but I try to delete my weakest pictures from Flickr as I add newer and stronger images. I rarely ingest more than three pages of a Flickr account, even when I like the work a lot. For that reason I try to keep mine to about three or four pages and make them worth looking at. I’ve also been known to change the date on old images that make a strong showing to move them toward the front page.
March 14th, 2010 at 11:31 pm
I don’t post to any of the online photo sites out of privacy concerns.
If (and that’s a LARGE if) and when I decided to share my pics widely online it would be through a temp page uploaded to my ISP provided webspace with a link to reach it for viewing.
I know that it’s the current big thing, but I’m just private enough an individual to not trust the social networking sites to keep my personal info secure. I share myself only with close friends, not every Tom, Dick, and Harry that would wander by my page on those sites.
March 14th, 2010 at 11:44 pm
I upload some of my pictures into Webshots (http://community.webshots.com/user/anyoflores) as a free member. The limitations is that the maximum size is 2400X1800 pixels. Unlike Flickr that just gives free member 200 images to be seen, Webshots provides for me thousands of images to be uploaded for free.
March 15th, 2010 at 12:07 am
I love sharing photos on the Web. Just this week alone I have shared 4 thousand photos in different albums from my travels to Argentina and Haiti this month. If you go to http://picasaweb.google.com/lsmithtwin
you can see the albums I have just put up. If you would send me an e-mail I will send you an example of how I do it. I insert a dozen or so photos into an e-mail along with the URL of the album. I have sent these out to hundreds this week alone. I use Picasa which I feel is the best out there. I do not PS so I use their simple tools to quickly adjust the photo. For scanned slides and negs I like their dust removal tool. I like the way the albums set up and the thumbs. I could keep going on because I am a real fan of Picasa. I could not find a blog to put this on. I hope to hear from you so I can show you what I do. My Haiti photos are really nice.
March 15th, 2010 at 12:25 am
I started with Flickr then thru DPS I discovered Smug Mug. I really love the options available. I also send pics to Picture Social for honest critism of my pics in the Critique Group. I wasn’t being helped with the “fluff” critique on Flickr.
March 15th, 2010 at 12:32 am
I don’t post any photos because I don’t know how or where to post to. I would like to participate in some of the assignments and post but don’t know how.
March 15th, 2010 at 12:38 am
I share more frequent than once a week, but less than once a day!!
I’m happy that this poll has come in now. It was only yesterday that I was thinking about whether I need to go online a little more bullish. I’d like to share that thought here, to get a few comments on it if possible.
Sharing is one question, but given the bigger picture of the market that’s out there, do you share to share your work, or do you use the medium to promote your sales? Do you believe the internet as a medium that can communicate your advertising to the clients out there? What are your thoughts?
March 15th, 2010 at 12:44 am
Usually only weekly in Flickr or anytime I had picture and had time to transfer it to PC.
I’m still using a P&S and not trying to do anything artistic though, so there doesn’t seem any point in the uploads other than making it easy to show friends online about something.
March 15th, 2010 at 12:49 am
I share at Blipfoto.com which has really sparked my interest in daily photography. Also at Flickr.
March 15th, 2010 at 12:54 am
Various actually quite a few sites. Would like to see more meaningful critiques that says more than, Great Pic, Beautiful, etc. Too many viewers are reluctant to give detail critiques because they afraid of offending someone…..!

Yep! Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/junglebear/) and WordPress (http://50two.wordpress.com)

I post the best of them regularly on Flickr and my competition photos on the local camera club website. I do have a family site, but update it less often these days. And many of my sports photos end up on either the local high school website or the local soccer club website (about 500 / year there).
March 15th, 2010 at 1:55 am
I tend to add at least one photo in any upload to the numerous groups I have joined within Flickr! I think it’s good to share your stuff, and it’s great to get some good comments on some photos!
March 15th, 2010 at 2:09 am
Ichecked daily because I use twitter & Facebook for photos I take w/my phone & I’m constantly taking pictures w/my phone. I post to my blog 3times a week and I also use flickr about once a week.
March 15th, 2010 at 2:39 am
I haven’t shared any photos because I am a beginner and just learning how to use my camera. I will, however, share some photos as my skills improve and when I learn how to post photos.
March 15th, 2010 at 2:39 am
I post photos daily on Flickr. Usually about 3 or 4. This makes sure I get out and take photos almost every day. And I have a daily photo blog where I post, generally, 2 photos daily and write a couple of paragraphs about what might have been going on around the photos……and how I see my world. I enjoy both very much. On Flickr, I just love the international connection with other photographers. Joinging together for one common goal dedicated to the improvement of our photography skills seems to jump across so many cultural or political barriers.
March 15th, 2010 at 2:43 am
Flickr Pro, Imagekind Pro, my Blogspot, and a few others that I mostly ignore. I’m concentrating on Flickr right now because it does pretty much everything I want it to do.
March 15th, 2010 at 2:45 am
Started a photoblog on Jan. 1, 2010, taking photos and posting daily.
March 15th, 2010 at 2:52 am
I post to Flickr most days, but only small (750px max) files because of the number of people who think that they can help themselves to images, regardless of them being marked All rights Reserved.

I have a SmugMug account and I love it. They allow unlimited photos and space, they have no ads or spam, and offer three different account levels at very reasonable prices. Thanks to DPS, I’m doing the Project365 (and having a great time and learning a great deal) so I post photos daily. I also use the site for all of my other photos including general photos I take, photo shoots, family photos, my nephew’s sporting events, and photos I take for various organizations.
March 15th, 2010 at 3:36 am
I share a few on Google but do not like social networking, I have read the find print, I don’t post photos of people’s faces publicly, that I believe is their choice not mine. I do have photos on a free website 110mb.com, no ads no hassle, and I do like jalbum.com for galleries. but I control what is done with the images. Call me old fashion, but I don’t like the data mining that is going on.
March 15th, 2010 at 3:42 am
I post to Redbubble. I like that I can sell my work there, and it is a wonderful community atmosphere, with some very generous people. Prior to that,I did not use the web.
Vicki
March 15th, 2010 at 3:52 am
I upload to Flickr every now and then, when I think I have something of general interest. Why Flickr? It’s easy — I have a Lightroom plugin that will let me do it directly from there, and I can add a tweet at the same time.
March 15th, 2010 at 3:59 am
My emphasis is on selling images as prints, canvas wraps, and cards, but I’m not interested in printing and shipping the orders myself, and rely on RedBubble for that. I have a dormant Flickr account, and have gravitated toward RedBubble.com for the clean uncluttered interface, the emphasis on a high level of artistic quality (rather than just snapshots), the very supportive atmosphere, the built-in security/protection of ownership, and worldwide feedback… all for free. Two million visitors pass by RedBubble per month, nice traffic which is looking for top notch art and photography.
To get the word out about the portfolio of images I have there, I use Facebook (which links seemlessly with RedBubble) and YouTube slideshows (which are stand alone videos with music on YouTube, but are also embedded with some of my images and on my RedBubble profile as well). I have a Fine Art America account as well, but cross-reference my RedBubble account for folks looking for more images.
Contests are a good way to get the word out about a portfolio, and so I participate in select contests that suit my work (Smithsonian, Center for Fine Art Photography in Ft.Collins, NANPA). In the end the thing that sells the most work is a personal connection with the buyer, and having the ordering be “easy”, as it is at RedBubble.
When I’m in the field or at parties, and people are interested in my work, I don’t like pulling out a business card. Instead I tell them my last name which is Ruttle (like “rattle” but with a U), and then mention that they can Google me to get my images. It goes like this…
You can Google:
“ruttle fox”
“ruttle moose”
“ruttle wildlife”
“ruttle landscape”
“ruttle underwater”
“ruttle grouper”
“ruttle Tetons”
… you get the idea… it will take you to my images.
Another way I get the word out is by sharing via email an image that’s on RedBubble; you guessed it, there’s a handy-dandy “share” button below each image. I also purchase my own cards to give as gifts, or use as thank you notes.
In the end, the nicest surprise is a sale that pops out of no-where when someone visiting RedBubble likes an image (ex: of a barn I shot a while back) and purchases a canvas wrap of it!

So far I only share with family when I have something I think they might like to see. Oh yes, I also share on DPS. I like to do photography with my camera a LOT more than work on my PC. Downloading, a little PP, backing up my files and looking at other peoples’ stuff on DPS is plenty of PC time for me.
Also I have to share the PC but not the camera.
March 15th, 2010 at 4:17 am
Forgot to say that I voted “less than once a month” but I had forgotten about posting on DPS so it’s really more often than that. Also I use Picasa.
March 15th, 2010 at 4:57 am
I use Flickr several times a week. I like exploring their many groups, and meeting some interesting people through comments that they make on peoples photos. I also post on Snapfish, they do all of my printing that I don’t do myself, and process any film that I use.
March 15th, 2010 at 5:06 am
I use also use flickr, only thing i’v found which i like. I try to upload at least once a week with a “project 52″
March 15th, 2010 at 5:18 am
Most of the photo sites claim “ownership” of what you submit, in perpetuity, without compensation to you. I’m not about to give away even my crappiest work to some web site that might be gobbled up by the next larger one.
March 15th, 2010 at 5:29 am
I have a daily photo blog of Las Vegas. AnotherLasVegas Daily Photo.
March 15th, 2010 at 5:44 am
I share them on my blog, on Facebook, on Photo forum.com and on Paint my Photo.
March 15th, 2010 at 5:51 am
I have an account on redbubble.com that I update nearly every day. I am also a cohost of one of the groups – All That Is Nature.
Also, it is a great site to learn new techniques for photography, photoshop and art in general. Everyone is so nice!
March 15th, 2010 at 6:27 am
I publish all the time all over, but no one knows how to buy.
March 15th, 2010 at 6:29 am
I’m doing a picture a day for a year project.
I started the 1st of the year and I’m at about 70 pictures. Currently I’m at the first big wall – 3 months. It’s turning spring here in the midwest (U.S.), so it’s cloudy without sunlight for weeks. I’m try to take a weeks amount of picture on the weekend for te next week. It’s getting hard to find new things around here, need sunlight!
anyway check it out if you want

I’m firmly in the Flickr camp
March 15th, 2010 at 6:57 am
I voted weekly for this pole. I am currently using a Pentax MX 35mm film camera {Yes I know, it’s film and manual, and some of you prefer digital, but for me I enjoy having to constantly change my f/stop and my shutter speed to capture that excellent shot. Than having to wait for the prints to be developed lol!!!!} and I probably post something every week on my Flickr Pro account. I always have my camera on me at all times with an extra roll of film just in case.
I have been using Flickr now for about a year and I personally believe it’s an excellent place to upload your photos and view other photographers photos. As well it’s an excellent place to meet new photographers, see what others have to offer, also there are groups that you can join to discuss anything relating to that group. A web link to my account is below. Thanks.

Mostly only use Flickr now. You can find me here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/szacharias/
I was here on DPS and still visit occasionally but read the newsletter regularly. I don’t know exactly what the issue was possibly the forums compatibility with my browser choice but in any case it seemed somewhat cumbersome. Time was also an issue and it seems I have kind of chose Flickr as my main photo sharing home for now anyways.
March 15th, 2010 at 7:12 am
I post on a regular basis, almost daily at Flickr.com in addition to Deviantart.com, Redbubble.com, MySpace, and Facebook. The models want to see their photos!!
As a fashion/glam photographer it is a way of showing off my work to perspective clients as well as networking with other photographers.
March 15th, 2010 at 7:48 am
Flickr pro account, primarily because I wanted to be able to ‘sort’ my photos from my mixed media crafting. Because I have a blog for my crafting, my Flickr has become my ‘photo gallery.’ I’ve found other photo blogs that have photo challenges (in addition to DPS), so it motivates me to take photos fairly regularly.
March 15th, 2010 at 8:15 am
I’m not a pro at all, just someone who uses photos as a trip down memory lane.
I’d be more inclined to put images up on a sharing service (flickr, photobucket, picasa, etc), if I had better ways to pull the images back down, along with any description information associated with those images. I’ve considered using flickrfs on linux in order to pull everything back, but have not been able to get things quite how I would like just yet.
This has left me with setting up my own interface, so I can maintain full control over any database or description information.
Popular sites such as geocities promised access forever, but as you can see, have been erased from the internet. it’s too much effort to edit, post and describe each image when i can not control the future of them.
Rolling my own solution is really not what I desire to do. I don’t see any other recourse if I am to maintain the data over the next 50+ years. I suspect that i should be able to implement IPv6 and HTML based technology will be readable throughout that time, just like I can still read files from the 70′s. I’ve begun to roll my solution with a mix of virtual machine technology and NFS mounted datastores in an effort to future proof the design.
Ideally, I’ll be able to archive the solution as a virtual machine in the future if i need to. I expect emulators for my x86/Linux based solution will be available throughout my lifetime. After that, If someone else wants to maintain it or not, that’s really up to them.
March 15th, 2010 at 8:58 am
I maintain a blog (Blogger) that I’ve customized to match my smugmug account so that the two can work seamlessly together. http://www.photosbypaulsmith.com/

I am a hobbyist and I share my photos on my blog. Ocassionally, I post some photos on Flickr.
March 15th, 2010 at 12:25 pm
I don’t feel that my photos are up to the quality for sharing. I really enjoy viewing all the photos. Perhaps these images will help me take better photos.
I really enjoy this web site. I try putting into practice all that I read.
thank you for all the time that you put into this site.
Oh yes the very odd time that I have posted, it seems like a very long process. ( perhaps this is because I don’t post often enough to get the process down to a fine art).
March 15th, 2010 at 12:36 pm
forgot to mention that I have used flickr when I have posted.
March 15th, 2010 at 12:40 pm
I LOVE my FOTKI.COM account for sharing with family, friends, and clients, share less often with flickr.com and still less often on my blog.
March 15th, 2010 at 1:02 pm
I only share mine in facebook. have you guys ever tried tumblr? photos are reblogged so frequently that sometimes sourcing isnt done well. Any great digital camera review
March 15th, 2010 at 1:16 pm
Yes I do Share. The ones that interest me and I feel others would like to look at, I place on Flickr. All other that are of interest to friends and family, I post to Facebook. I do like looking over other peoples photos and see what comments are put in.
March 15th, 2010 at 1:22 pm
At my photo club I was saying we needed to get a group set up on Flickr so we could watch what everyone else was doing and a page on Facebook to help us communicate between each other and maybe draw in some new club members. Well a couple of teachers in the group said that their teachers union had told them to NEVER participate in anything like Flickr or Facebook. Actually their union had forbidden them from it. What, a union telling me what I can and cannot do during my free time? Sorry, but I have a real problem with that.
March 15th, 2010 at 1:23 pm
I’ve used Picasa for a long time. I recently started using Flickr more, because it was a good way to share photos and comments with some friends from another forum. I have a 365 project that I upload to both those places AND Shuttercal. I started Shuttercal because I like the way they display 365 projects and because I like the way they print them, but it turns out I like the friendly community there as well. I keep my Picasa account up because that’s the account my family looks at regularly.
March 15th, 2010 at 2:03 pm
I include them in my profile @ facebook… I used to put it under photoblog in my LJ posts as well…
I’m now hooked onto ‘fb’, as I have a huge number of friends connected with me on fb… and I put my pics there to get their comments and views
March 15th, 2010 at 2:31 pm
I upload a lot of my shots to Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/suzannehight/), and I also have photoblog where I talk about where and how I shot the images (http://zenofzann.wordpress.com). I usually post something at least a couple times per week.
March 15th, 2010 at 3:04 pm
I use Flickr some but I mostly post photos on my photoblog: ojphoto.blogspot.com
March 15th, 2010 at 3:43 pm
Weekly. Most times, not being out and out on photography, I can make it to have few ‘shareable’ shots only once a week. Uploading/Sharing more frequently would mean more shooting, which I am unable to devote time to.
March 15th, 2010 at 4:02 pm
I use Flickr Po for family and was doing really well when I first started, However I bought CS4 a few weeks ago and have spent a lot of time working with that using tutorials. For me it was a jump from Photoshop Elements.
March 15th, 2010 at 5:26 pm
I used to be Flickr Pro user, but the account expires in a week or so. I’m not going to keep it I think. Now I only use my photoblog (link on my name) and don’t miss Flickr much. Sure, Flickr has some other uses as well, like uploading snapshots, but nowadays I just use my photoblog.
I would like to show more pictures, but recently work and family has taken most of my time, with almost none left for shooting and/or shopping.
March 15th, 2010 at 7:43 pm
I’m taking a photo a day for this year, so I take maybe one or more photos a day and post them on my blog and on my flickr – http://www.flickr.com/photos/pizzagirl/
March 15th, 2010 at 7:44 pm
I post my images on http://www.ipernity.com – a smaller forum than flickr and based in France, it’s a nice place, not as busy as flickr, but pretty cool.
I also have a flickr account…
March 15th, 2010 at 9:17 pm
I use flickr for photos that I want to display to the public and Picasa for a closed group.
March 15th, 2010 at 9:19 pm
I store photos online most everywhere and for different purposes. Family photos on Kodak, organizational photos on picasa and flickr, serious works on RedBubble. And casual stuff to share with friends on FaceBook.
March 15th, 2010 at 9:42 pm
I use (I put once a week, but the truth is there is no real regularity in my posts, they come in fits and bursts) and for my travel related ones, where I get a little money for my troubles.
March 15th, 2010 at 9:53 pm
Doing the flickr thing, just recently upgraded to pro – almost every day I’ve been posting a 365 project thing…
March 15th, 2010 at 11:39 pm
I’m doing a 365 project on flickr so I upload daily. I really like flickr as a photography web site.
March 16th, 2010 at 12:11 am
Mostly Flickr pro but then I put my favorites on Zenfolio… they look so much nice on ZF but they get viewed more frequently on Flickr. Easy to upload directly from LIghtroom to either site.
March 16th, 2010 at 12:17 am
I use flickr, a blog and facebook to share my favorite pictures!
flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/goesturbo/

I share the fruits of photography somewhere between once a month and once a week (all depends on how much chance I’ve had to get out there)
I post them to my blog as well as to my Flickr account; Flickr to keep them all together, and both because their each a great place to get feedback on your photos.
March 16th, 2010 at 2:22 am
I have a photoblog that I update daily – http://olivejuuuuice.com/
and a Flickr – http://www.flickr.com/photos/nuno_oliveira/
March 16th, 2010 at 2:26 am
I share the majority of my stuff on Flickr… and that pretty much goes up everytime I unload my shots I do a quick edit and sort through and pull out the good ones and then upload them.
Recently I started a little photoblog on wordpress for my little Point and shoot. kind of like a little photo journal.
I used to use facebook but found that my pictures never turned out any good after uploading them to there…

i belong to a group that i share my work with pretty regularly. i have grown from the honest / constructive feed back i get from the fellow photographers and have noticed a great improvement in my work as a result. i upload my work with a 72 resolution which limits the copy issue (quality) to some extent. i don’t care to put my work out there too much and prefer to work with one site that i can be in control of my photo’s.

Yep, since I’m doing the project 365 I post them daily. Otherwise it’s more of a weekly thing. I use Flickr a lot, and also have my own website. I used to host everything with flash, but switched over to Blogspot. Just seems easier.

I’m a bit of photographic junkie you can find my photographs on, Wikimedia Commons, Redbubble, Flickr then theres other sites like Picasa, Treklens, photoSIG, and half dozen stock photo sites that each serve different purposes.
Wikimedia Commons is where I can draw inspiration and challenges in meeting the needs of Wikipedia, from that my photographs achieve a purpose and contribute to the making Wikipedia a better resource. Wikimedia Commons is a wonderful community and strives to ensure that it hosts only images under a free copyright.
Redbubble is where I sell works and direct people wanting prints etc as they make it easy, and they can be sent world wide without the hassles. Its also a good community to be a part of and great place to find challeges
Flickr is great place for communication about een with groups like “Photographer in Perth” I’ve found out about opportunities to exhibit my work. Most significantly its catchment arena for Picture Australia which collects photographs that will remain perminently available through the National Library of Australia.
The other sites are great for reieveing honest feed back on photographs or for making some extra cash
March 17th, 2010 at 3:28 am
I have my own photoblog at fotoblog.by (it’s http://nuwbie.fotoblog.by
). It is one of the two Belarussian (yes, I live there) photoblogs I know about. This one was chosen as a bit more friendly (I mean, let it be, the “atmosphere” of the community) then the other one, which is designed for professionals.
March 17th, 2010 at 5:31 am
I take part in a Picture a Day Challenge – it is a personal challenge and one which has stretched and improved my photography immensely – I don’t want to post a “rubbish’ picture just to fill the day, it has to be as good as I can achieve. (http://www.pbase.com/abrazo/one_day_at_a_time) The comments and advice are a great help as is the sense of community.
March 17th, 2010 at 6:47 am
I am attempting a 365 photo project this year (like so many others) and use Flickr. Haven’t missed a day yet and it is really helping me learn to take better photos.
March 17th, 2010 at 12:52 pm
I add images to my pbase galleries as often as I have something I think is worthwhile or which I want to share with others.

I use Flickr for most of them, Facebook for more personal ones and my blog for whatever ones suit what I’m writing about.
March 17th, 2010 at 2:50 pm
I also add many images when I can in form of a slide show or video. Share not a problem. Also use Picassa and flickr and for personal stuff, Facebook.
March 17th, 2010 at 6:37 pm
Publishing photos (under Creative Commons licence) in my own photo gallery using free-libre/open source software Gallery2. Costs little money to register the domain and for webhosting but gives me the most control and no ads. Enjoying both photography and playing with software!
March 17th, 2010 at 9:58 pm
While I’ve been taking tons of pictures, I’ve only recently started sharing them online. I have a Flickr account and have recently decided to start participating in Project 365. I upload one picture a day.
March 18th, 2010 at 3:27 am
I have been very careful about who, what and where I post information, I NEVER post photographs with identifiable facial characters in any PUBLIC forum. One, I think a release is or should be on file first, and secondly, I do not trust the data miners who are harvesting data on individuals for various corporate and government entities. Case in point, just received this article: http://yro.slashdot.org/story/10/03/16/1857259/Federal-Agents-Quietly-Using-Social-Media which very well documents that issue for US Government agencies. If you are doing photographs in a business environment, and want to display the work do it in a password protected site where only the family or client has the password. And reconsider all the personal photos and private information you post in your public social network sites. Beside data mining from government, there are many cases where individuals applying for a job, were refused because they revealed information about themselves or friends which was mined by Corps. and tapped by companies reviewing the hiring of individuals, causing them to determine the applicant was not qualified for the job, citing examples from photos etc. of them drinking, smoking or other aspects of life style. I would strongly submit that this is a serious issue to be considered.

I love to show my latest images and use them to add to a response in a thread or two

VOX is free and lets me upload videos from my photos as well. It’s a great community for whatever your interest might be. The photography groups are fun, really interesting to meet people on a global level and see cultural differences, Also the Photoquest group on VOX runs contests for its members, no cost, no prize – but lots of fun an input. VOX.com and get your site up in minutes.

I use Panoramio to share my photos. It’s a really great site as it’s linked to google earth, so as long as a photo is mapped, gives a good idea of the location and doesn’t have people as the main subject, it will be automatically put into google earth for users to see when they hover over that location. There’s also a forum with photography tips, advice and constructive criticism available, and threads for sharing photos of particular subjects. I’m mostly into photographing landscapes and scenery rather than still life, portraiture etc, so it’s the ideal place for me.
For more personal photos of friends and family, I stick to Facebook.

I use 2 blogspot blogs, one for my photos and one for my artwork. When I’m in a funk artwise, I use my photography as my artistic release, and vice versa. They balance me out well and each supports the other. However I started my photoblog to share my images with friends and family, because I’m still learning and it’s something I enjoy.

Hi:
I uploaded same day fotos taken to my nature blog http://www.visionsanasini.blogspot.com. Most of the fotos are taken using a Nikon point and shoot P5100. Lately i added short video clips using same camera too.

I use Smugmug. Much of my family lives outside Alaska so this site is a good way for them to keep up. I love Smugmug for so many reasons but for my family, it’s nice because they can save or print the pictures themselves or have them done and mailed to their house.
March 19th, 2010 at 4:06 am
I usually share mine on my blog and flickr…occasionally on Facebook as well
March 19th, 2010 at 4:07 am
share mine on 1. my blog 2. flickr 3. facebook
March 19th, 2010 at 4:10 am
For maximum exposure I use Tumblr, Flickr, and my photography blog. All tend to draw different audiences. Twittering (recent uploads to my photoblog) has also drawn plenty of visits to my blog.
March 19th, 2010 at 4:12 am
I post on Facebook. The brides love it, the seniors love it, their family and friends love it and it’s good for business!
March 19th, 2010 at 4:12 am
I Share my photos presently three places: My own web site http://www.marygracephotostownsend.com ; Facebook; and Twitter (with twitter I direct them to my web site for photo).
I chose my own web site because it gives me the freedom to do and share whatever I want without any limitations and I designed and maintain it myself without knowing computer language. I use Smug Mug and love dealing with them and I love my sight.
I chose Facebook (Smoky Mountain Photos – Mary Grace Townsend TN) because everything I read says this is a good outlet for your photos to be exposed. I’m using Facebook pages because I’m a buisness. I like it so far, I just started it in December and I’m gathering fans slowly. Plus it gives my web site info and contact info. Also I find more people respond here more than my web site.
I chose Twitter for same reason as facebook, but not pleased with results. It gets some exposure but I think you have to be lucky with this site. It moves so fast and people put the worst stuff on there. Example: “I just went to the bathroom”; “I just went shopping for hamburger meet” ; WHO CARES.
I love your site. Thanks and keep up the great work! I can never figure where you and some other great sites get the time to do it all.
March 19th, 2010 at 4:17 am
I use Xanga (screenname slmret) for the community it provides. I have several readers who provide useful feedback in a supportive way, and enjoy this forum.
March 19th, 2010 at 4:19 am

I upload images to ephotozine, though nothing like as regularly as in the past (used to be daily, more or less). Mostly this is due to time constraints as I am currently undertaking training and helping a friend to get a business off the ground – building my own website is also there in the mix somewhere! I am also starting to upload very occasionally to other sites – e.g. Photography Monthly and considering other options… Hope this helps!

I post about once a month to our photo club site on smugmug.com. I probably have taken pictures on half the galleries there.
Here, it’s bchsphotoclub.smugmug.com
March 19th, 2010 at 4:35 am
I share on Flickr and on occasion I post them on a blog. Currently in search for a good photo sharing database that fits my preferences, but for now that will have to be Flickr I guess. Sometimes I find interesting things on Bighugelabs.com that compliment the Flickr service.
March 19th, 2010 at 4:39 am
I voted for weekly, but I guess I missed the “irregular” option.
I post to a stock photo site whenever I have the really good stuff (OK, I think it’s really good!) but there are probably fifty or even a hundred other pix that I took trying to get the perfect shot, and the best of those I share via email with family and friends. When I have a whole stack of really good but not quite salable shots–like the thirty or so I took yesterday of the first crocus (Yea, come on SPRINGTIME!!!)–I post the best of those to Facebook so all my family and friends can see them. So it’s sporadic–sometimes a dozen in one day, sometimes nothing for two weeks. And of course I have a link from my Facebook page to the stock photo site.
And I NEVER, NEVER, NEVER post pictures of children under 18 with any identifying information on Facebook or anywhere else in public. They try hard, but their privacy protection isn’t perfect–nobody’s is.
March 19th, 2010 at 5:00 am
I upload my photos to a page on my domain then send links to friends and family via email. This is the most convenient venue for me and allows me full control of the photos that I post. I also have a blog (that needs current cultivation) and a Web site (likewise needs updating). Sometimes I post to Facebook – it’s quick and easy.
March 19th, 2010 at 5:06 am
Flickr pro .. It allows whoever you choose to see your images (like selected contacts) and so get comment from likeminded photogs. Can use it as a website/portfolio by giving a direct access to your own page, where you can have different sets eg weddings people, wildlife etc. One of my pages is dedicated to an ongoing project on the plight of abandoned children, and I can swnd someone to the page, and it opens as a slideshow eg http://www.flickr.com/photos/earthkidzinternational/show .. Go look .. really a cool idea with the slideshow
March 19th, 2010 at 5:07 am
I voted never because I don’t know what sites are best for my purposes. Never tried it before, but would be willing to try based on some of the suggestions in these posts.
March 19th, 2010 at 5:12 am
I use deviantart to get constructive critiques from other photographers, but also to share my work
March 19th, 2010 at 5:13 am
Personally, I use ShutterFly because it’s the only free service I’ve found that doesn’t have any uploads limits!!! (I know, I’m cheap
).
DeviantArt has an awesome “Portfolio” feature that I definitely plan to use once I start taking photographs worthy of a portfoilio
And based off all these comments I would say the next poll should ask what online service we prefer!!!
March 19th, 2010 at 5:28 am
I use Flickr – it is easy to use. Also enjoy photojojo
March 19th, 2010 at 6:00 am
Thanks so much for all these great tips and tutorials! They are a big help! Please check out my new website nathanielkidd.com

I share images at
http://www.photoblog.com/karans
http://www.flickr.com/photos/ratnasinghrathore/
I like the way these websites present the pictures I share.
March 19th, 2010 at 6:50 am
No way. I mat, frame and sell my photos. Photo sharing on line is a good way to have your work stolen. After all the shenanigans I’ve seen on the internet, I also stay away from the “Social networking” sites.
I got on Facebook looking for a friend I hadn’t heard from in a long time, found him and his ex-wife and got a whole bunch of people wanting to be my “Friend.” I got off and demanded that all my presence be taken off the site. Facebook and those like it are full of so many odd, lonely and possibly criminal people who either want to feel they have “Friends” – people they don’t know or some who will try to try to take advantage of people.
A good friend and neighbor, who is a big fan of these sites tells us her weird adventures and the odd messages she gets, but she won’t get off any of the sites
A lot a bad stuff had come about because of these sites. I go by what my parents told me as a little kid – “Don’t talk to strangers.” And especially post ways the some weirdo can get to you.
I have quite enough real friends, thank you.
March 19th, 2010 at 7:03 am
I have tried several photo sites and when I joined this forum I opened a Flickr account. In the past, I picked sites according to where I wanted to get my prints or how I wanted to share with family so they could buy prints if they chose to.
March 19th, 2010 at 7:12 am
I share rarely on a nature photography site I belong to. Other than that,,,,e-mail to my kids only.
March 19th, 2010 at 7:15 am
Where do I post pix? One every day with a dream poem to the above listed blog, with a subsequent permanent monthly post of the month’s pix/poems. Also occasionally either as single pixs or albums to FaceBook. And even more occasionally to my Tarot blog (http://roswila-tarot.blogspot.com) as I’m developing a digital photo Tarot deck. If you visit any of these, be kind. I’m a newbie — at it barely one year and learning by trial and error
.
March 19th, 2010 at 7:15 am
I use Flickr. I started with it simply because friends were already on it and I followed because I wanted to share photo with them?
March 19th, 2010 at 7:15 am
I enjoy sharing my work… Otherwise what is the point in photography???
March 19th, 2010 at 7:40 am
I have my own personal website for selling my images http://www.paulacobleigh.com hosted by smugmug and then I upload on a regular basis to deviantart because I like the community and feedback I get on my images there.
March 19th, 2010 at 8:56 am
I use Flickr regularly and I actually moderate several groups on Flickr. I find it fun to see people comment on my photo`s that otherwise would remain on my hard drive and no-one would see them. However I have ran across some cases of my photo`s being stolen and violating my copy rights from posting to the internet so now I am cautious as to what I post. But I take flattery in knowing pictures that would have sat unseen are being stolen because someone likes them!!!!…. lol.
March 19th, 2010 at 9:13 am
I’ve not yet shown any of my photos on the web; but do show them at my Photographic Club nights.
I’ve also got a joint exhibition in May where my friend will be exhibiting his Pottery as well as my Photos & Paintings.
March 19th, 2010 at 9:19 am
I share my photos on Facebook & Red Bubble. Its always good to get feedback on my photography
March 19th, 2010 at 9:28 am
This web site, has been helpful, and enjoy reading and seeing the pictures posted.
I have a new camara (Sony H-20), still learning how to use it, I am somewhat new to photography, need help. I am taking a trip to Alaska, the last of Aug. – first of Sept., with any luck, I will be able to see the
Northern Lights, I would like to photograph them, clould you please give me some sugestions
as to what settings would give me the best pictures.
March 19th, 2010 at 10:13 am
I upload pictures on a regular basis on Flickr and also on Mother Earth News. Both are good sites and have a lot of interesting pics from many other participants. Mother Earth News i upload my home construction pictures because that is the kind of stuff they are looking for. Other pictures are also ok to upload. Both places are fun and interesting.
March 19th, 2010 at 10:59 am
Yes I have a photobucket account and I also share them with friends on an RV forum I belong to.
March 19th, 2010 at 11:29 am
I post my snaps to Flickr on a regular basis. I have a photoblog where I post my favourite shots (not necessarily good ones) and I do a Project 365 blog.
Keeps me busy…
March 19th, 2010 at 11:53 am
I find Redbubble is a more pure site for sharing but Deviantart is a great way to meet people and be part of a community. I could never warm to Flickr and I post most days
March 19th, 2010 at 1:25 pm
I share on Flickr, SmugMug, and my blog. I’m doing it mainly to get exposure and feedback. Plus its fun.
March 19th, 2010 at 1:48 pm
I upload to Facebook at least a few times a week. I normally take a few hundred photos a week, I pick the top 10 to 30 per post and put them up. I have so many friends that love to see my pictures. I get lots of good feed back too.
I also have 2 blogs: one for my professional photos and one for my family. Love sharing the photos.
March 19th, 2010 at 3:58 pm
I use Facebook for the memory kind of stuff,, family – events.
I use Picasa to privately store or send large groups of pictures so that my friends/family can download the original file size.
I use Flickr for the artsy stuff.
I have a blog but I’m having issues with it. I would love if you gave some tutorials or how to’s, or tip and tricks for photo blogging to those of us who aren’t computer geniuses. Maybe there are some articles but I haven’t found ‘em yet. Sometimes it’s a wee bit difficult to slog through all the pages and threads etc.
Thanks… This is a great site.

I use picasa for the photos I keep to myself and upload the ones I want to share with the worls to filckr. I then use a plugin to post them onto my wordpress blog as well as being able to have a gallery of flickr photos.
It’s easier using flickr uploadr from my desktop to get the pics online and then posting to my blog than it is to use wordpress for managing the galleries.
March 19th, 2010 at 8:18 pm
I upload my pictures on sxc.hu because it is royal free and I also I can download from there a lot of images that I can use as backgrunds in fotoshop which I often use in my work. In the future I should like to goin a site where I can sell my pictures if you can give me an advice I will be thankfull.
I have a new camera now a canon 500D with a 4gb card and I am just learnig to use it properrly. I like taking pictures in nature mostly.
March 19th, 2010 at 8:52 pm
I don’t and until I have time to watermark each image I won’t. There are too many people that do not understand the copyright laws and believe that because your image is on the Web it is free to use. I may not be an Ansel Adams, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have pride in my work and expect to be compensated when/if it is used elsewhere. I don’t want to pay for a service to sniff the Web to see if my image has been lifted off of Flickr to be used on someone’s Website.
Right now I’m in school for design so I don’t have time to watermark and post images, but once I’m done I may. I have some good work and I’d love people to see it.

I post to my Redbubble account probably once a week or a fortnight. Redbubble sells them for you, puts watermarks on your photos. (I’m still trying to work out how to do that myself so I can set up my own site).
http://www.redbubble.com/people/jsheehy Redbubble is also a great community of artists, writers and photographer who encourage and advise each other. Love that site!
March 20th, 2010 at 12:34 am
I share my images on my website http://www.jmphotographyonline.ca and I also have a blog http://www.jmphotographyonline.wordpress.com the blog is updated far more regularly
March 20th, 2010 at 12:58 am
I use Flickr. For sets that I want to share with family and friends, I use Picasa because not sign-up is required for them to view.

No never1
March 20th, 2010 at 2:45 am

March 20th, 2010 at 2:47 am
No I never do!
March 20th, 2010 at 3:32 am
not sure if you are asking the pics you take that day, they go right up
or do you have a site that your pics are forever there and they are shared 24/7
sometimes it take a bit of time to go through pics and get them up, but once they are there I am done
the place I put my pics is SMUGMUG
and the reason I do that is for various reasons
for family that is long distant
a main reason was I was tired of having my images just on disks and wanted to enjoy my images again and also relive my children’s growing up moments
Plus I have the PRO account because I do sell the images where I shoot an event.
There is no limit to what I can upload to this site and the fee is just a yearly fee.
March 20th, 2010 at 7:51 am
I have a smugmug account where I put my photos. Not sure if anyone else sees them, but fun to have them organized somewhere…..and a great back up.
March 20th, 2010 at 12:34 pm
I post daily on flickr and every other day to my blog http://rauberphotoworks.wordpress.com/. I just started a unique challenge suggested to Tasra Mar Dawson http://tasramar.com/ by Famed Photographer, Scott Bourne. Three actions in 365 days. Amazing what one can learn by reading their camera manual.
I’ve been reading these posts on people who are paranoid of people stealing their photos. I realize it does happen but I would be honored. I used to post on flickr for feedback, actual critiquing to help me improve. That doesn’t happen. I of course, don’t pursue that many groups to push my photos and I have only a few contacts. Ultimately, I’m now using flickr as a storage facility. Pics I don’t want anyone to see, I privatize. I’m just a hobbyist but I post to maintain the challenge.
March 20th, 2010 at 1:22 pm
Not sharing online….yet. Ever heard of a shy photographer? Got into photography to stretch myself. Only recently hooked up with a friend to learn off each other. His pictures are all over the internet. Mine are only on my computer. But that’s going to change soon. Setting up a website to share photos, less public than social networks. Then maybe I’ll do the facebook thing.
March 20th, 2010 at 9:15 pm
I put general images on Fotki, things that may be of interest to friends on Facebook, more artistic and professional shots go on deviantArt, and select photos from any of these places can show up on my LiveJournal or DreamWidth blogs.
March 20th, 2010 at 10:42 pm
I upload photos to my Flickr account a few times per week. I like the feedback that I get from other Flickr members.
March 21st, 2010 at 2:51 am
I post the photos that I want to share with family and friends on zenfolio.com and look forward to reading constructive critics. I’ll post photos on flikr, usually for raw.com contests. Occasionally I’ll post family photos on my facebook page.
March 21st, 2010 at 4:05 pm
I have a photoblog that I try to update daily. But I don’t publish photos of my kids!
March 22nd, 2010 at 11:30 am
I use flickr to post the good or trying to be professional photos. I always liked photography but half a year ago, started to take photography classes, and opening the account was part of the course. Liked it so much, I kept adding photos little by little. Thanks for the newsletters, they are very useful =)
March 23rd, 2010 at 12:56 pm
I use flickr to post some random and food images i usually take with my camera / phone. When i get a feedback from other flickr users, I’m always very happy. Recently someone has ask my permission to use one of my photos for they publication! I’m more than overjoy to share my photo (for free).
I also share my images on facebook and blog of friends and family.
March 24th, 2010 at 8:54 am
I didn’t make it through all the comments, but I didn’t see many people who use Posterous. The name of my photo blog is Photo/Copy: Seeing something to say. Wish I could be like you guys who are working on the 365 project, but at least I have this as an outlet to say something once in awhile with a photo. I have Posterous set up to fly over to my Facebook page, too — so that’s how people really see it.
March 25th, 2010 at 11:53 pm
I use Facebook mostly I am still trying to figure out how to share them on this site.
April 2nd, 2010 at 4:37 pm
Although I have my own website, I use my Red Bubble page constantly, it is free, user friendly, and a great creative community. Images may be purchased by yourself or by the public, with no outlay for the artist. Fabulous!

April 15th, 2010 at 10:24 pm
I only upload what I consider to be my best images, or images which I feel express something which I would like to share. As such I do not upload that many images, and I would not upload ‘bad’ images just so I have new content on my account. I use deviantART.
Ian.
July 16th, 2010 at 1:20 am
I have been using ShutterCal since November. I find that the exercise of posting an ‘image of the day’ keeps my creative juices flowing.
September 18th, 2010 at 2:07 am
Following a shoot, I’ll select a representative shot or two for online posting. I post first to my site/blog then copy the link to my Facebook business page. In turn, that FB post populates to my personal page. Utilizing the social network, my friends, family and others see my content in their daily “Top News” or “Most Recent” reading. Either way, a click through brings readers directly to my blog. So far, it’s worked very well and my viewer ship has increased over the last 45 days.
November 12th, 2010 at 2:56 pm
Currently, I only share my photos on FaceBook under my profile.
My family photos are restricted to my family to view.
My other photos are viewable by every FaceBook account user.
November 19th, 2010 at 4:51 pm
Facebook is my theatre of choice for the moment. I upload a few new images every week into a folder cleverly named “new uploads’. Nobody wants to go through the same images week after week just to look at something fresh so I put it out for comment and archive it the next week. In reality FB is a pretty safe environment for a rookie. If people hate it they don’t comment, if they like it they are polite, and occasionally I get some constructive commentary from the more talented/practiced people on my list. I tried a weekly photo contest but it lacked constructive criticism… a simple Vote for every image you liked and let the tally tell the story. I didn’t learn much.
This site is a gem. I learn a lot, I practice what I’ve read and expect myself to keep working up the ladder of proficiency. Thank you for helping it happen.
January 29th, 2011 at 12:08 pm
I too use Flickr for most of the images that I take.
July 8th, 2011 at 12:45 pm
I share photos regularly on fb. Wish I had a photoblog; just got back from a trip to Chicago and got some lovely shots I wish I could share somewhere other than fb. My friends might be tired of seeing them!
December 5th, 2011 at 5:56 am
I use flickr/tumblr and facebook lol
January 31st, 2012 at 2:09 pm
I started using Photoshop and have been happy. Does anyone have a comment or their own experiences about using Photoshop? Yes, I am new and my pictures are basic in composition and light use. Thanks for reading and commenting- Have a great week!

I share my photos with friends and family to help explain what I’m up to or enhance a recently visited location. I’m not faithful in my sharing but attempt to make sure every one gets a chance to see my photos.
