Sometimes I weary to the term ‘PhotoBlog’ Maybe I’m completely wrong here, but I hear the term “PhotoBlog” ascribed to a web site, it jget the feeling that it is just a site that will be much like a user’s Flickr stream. A steady flow of their photos being posted without much else to read. I like to try and include my thoughts & observations about different aspects of photography along with my images that can give people more to digest then just see a slide show of my work.

I don’t really have a photoblog but I do have a photography website that are just basically for personal use. I normally give it out to my family/friends.
I did have a photoblog at one point but I maintain a few other blogs it’s just a little too much work to keep all of these updated. So I just decided to create a static website for my photography that has links to fan site, flickr, etc.

Its not whether or not I have photoblog, better question would have been how many I have …
Like many others probably, I started blogging in my native language, so http://www.ylitalot.net/ is photoblog where all textual content has been written in finnish. http://poissatoimistolta.blogspot.com (poissa toimistolta can be translated to beeing out of office) is my photogblog for all photography related memes that I might participate and Hiking in Finlnad is photoblog, where I should be putting photographs from hiking trips with english captions, etc. but I have way too little time for its maintenance…

I’m a huge fan of DPS. I’m always blown away by the tips and lessons shared here. Moreover, I love seeing the works of other photographers. I’m always inspired when I log onto DPS. I just got into photography though I’ve loved it my entire life. I’m actually teaching myself until I can afford to take a some classes. Some days I feel as if I’m not getting it-the shot-and other days I feel like I am not. My focus is people. I’m fascinated with people’s ways of being.

I use my photo blog to try and write a little bit of something more interesting about the photos I take, sometimes it’s just a personal thought and sometimes it gives me the chance to delve further into the background of the subject. Mostly it’s just a reminder to keep shooting new things or to try something different every now and then so that it doesn’t become too repetitive or boring.
The most important thing I’ve learned is to be easy on myself when I don’t manage to update it as often as hoped, photo-a-day and 365 challenges don’t suit everyone!

I have a daily photoblog. My main reason to have it is to force myself to a certain minimum of creativity despite any obligations I have. I’m getting a Nikon D90 (my first DSLR) for Christmas and a friend who has been posting a picture-of-the day every day for the last year suggested that we do a photo blog together, with no knowledge of what each other is posting on any given day. I just recently switched to a blog. My visitors are staying on site longer. Within 24 hours of changing to a blog, I booked a session and the reason was – I had a good feel for you personality and your site looked more professional. I have been posting a daily or almost daily photo to my (mo)blog for a couple of years now. I take most of the photos with my camera phone and post them directly to the blog from the phone. I call is mo-pho-blogging. ;o)

I’m actually very surprised by how close this is. I started the photoblog as a one-photo-a-day thing on Jan 1st as a New Year’s resolution to get me shooting more… and it’s worked! I’ve shot more photos than ever before; tried more things; visit more locations; and improved my photography immensely.
Not sure what I’m going to do with it next year. I could keep publishing one-photo-a-day but I think I want to concentrate more on quality and sets of images that work well together. Hmm…

I usually post a few highlights on Flickr – and watermark them with the URL for my blog. That way I can move some of the people interested in my photography from Flickr to my private blog – where I have more control over presentation (and where I use my own server, so I dont have to be worried about rights to my images and so on).
One thing though – I must say that the number of comments on my blog is very very limited (= none) – and the opportunity to have a conversation with people about my photography was one of the reasons that I created the blog. That has not come through yet.

I have recently become very obsessed with photography. I bought an entry level DSLR and Lightroom 2 and now I can’t get enough of it.

I have a webiste that offers the opportunity for those that desire to purchase prints and I also have a blog attached to my webiste, it is a Word Press template is for a photo blog that I like. If you want to do photogrpahy for a living and offer fine art prints, or other photography services I think it is important to have both. Unfortunately I find time give to the blog has be lacking and I would say that if you do a photo blog you should be posting at least once a week. That is written story about a project you are working on with some supporting photos, be creative because all you are really doing is using words in addition to the images you have created. I originally started shovelling all my photos into a Gallery2 website, but then realised that looking at photos is nice… for the first five or so photos, but then you sort of get bored.
So I have a photo blog at http://www.piku.co.uk which contains just the best photos I’ve taken, along with an explanation of the photo, or why it was taken. I think it’s much more interesting finding out the story behind the pictures rather than just staring at a grid of Flickr uploads.
If you run a WordPress installation I found a really nice template called Revolution Black Canvas.

I have a PhotoBlog for Tru Shots Photography. I display some of my work there as well as include posts on tips and tutorials, discussions and I recently added a series of interviews of female photographers I met through social media networking. 2 have been posted so far and more are to come. I think a blog is a great addition to having a website. I notice that different people like different things…some want to see a flash website, some prefer a blog, for some, their main point of contact with my work is my Facebook fan page so it’s good to have work available through a variety of mediums. I also have Flickr (need to actually use it though, hehe) and Model Mayhem.

I have a blog called “Photography for Beginners.” It was inspired by my job at a state park in WV watching people with the digicams attempt to get photos of their vacations. I would see them lined up at night shooting the sunset over the mountains with all these flashes going off for no reason except they didn’t know how to turn them off.
It covers a variety of different shooting situations geared toward to those who are not photographers and have bought a digital camera.

I love my website, I have been taking photos for almost 30 years. My camera goes every where I go I have the Nikon 80D. I was skeptical about going digital I thought it took alot of time but after I bought my first digital camera the Minolta Dimage Z1 I was hooked. My blog is a combination of travel and photography. As a few other commenters have stated, I prefer to include stories and thoughts around my photos – not simply plonk photos on a site.

I don’t know if this counts as a photoblog, but I always post 12-30 pictures of the newest album on my site into my blog and do a little monthly review of the new albums with about the same number of photos. The actual albums with 100-250 photos are on my site, so the blog is more like a SEO-attempt then the actuall publishing platform. For I’m generally thinking about switching completely to the blog software (if WP offers a handable viewing-widget), I voted YES.

I’ve kept one for a number of years. I run it on my own server at home because a) I’m a geek and like to play around with computer hardware and software; and b) I am the only limiter of my space.

Yes I have a photoblog. I am ashamed to say that I have not updated it regularly this year though. During my first year I really posted religiously about my photo adventures. That’s why I even called it a photo-a-day. Now I inserted “almost” to my byline. Ha ha ha. Anyway, for whatever it is worth, here is the link to my photoblog.

I have a personal wordpress site I have setup to be a photo sharing area for family and friends. It is closed out the google searches, and I tend not to post the link in open requests areas. The main goal is for my wife and I to share the hobby with those family and friends. Plus it gives me an outlet for programming and development occasionally when I want to customize the site.
The Site is broken down into areas where I the the blog posts are back dated on the site to the day which the pictures were taken. The actual post may go up a week or so after the outing depending on how long it takes me to get them edited and prepped for the site. I have pages which support “projects” I work on around restorations of family photos, Kid’s community sport photography I had the opportunity to participate in , event photography I volunteer fro, etc. I also am involved in a work group of photographers were we have monthly topics which are posted, and a catch-all area for experimentation photographs I take or new editing techniques, and finally an area for ‘stupid/fun/impromptu’ pics we take with our cell phone camera
Our goal is to share, not to get comments or push it out over the web, and than makes my wife and I happy with the hobby.

I call my blog “The World According to Marcheta”. I love photography and taking pictures, but I wanted the blog to be more than just how I see my world, but also to give helpful tips and links to tutorials. Many times doing a web search for a tutorial I come across articles from DPS and link them in the blog post.
Most times I ask a question, such as: “Did you find ways to add whimsy to your road trip photography? I hope so, because tossing in a photo that has an unexpected perspective goes a long way to say, “Wake up! Look at me!”
I always sign off with a star after my name and a comment, a habit I started when I was participated in an online astronomy course.

This is my second appearance in this thread. In 2010 I completed a 365 project, now I’m posting on a new blog, updating a couple of times a week. The photos are based around my commute, street mainly, and at the moment I’m mainly using my new Fujifilm Finepix X100 camera.
I live and work in London. The pictures here are captures from my commute, although I’m allowed to wander in my time too! Trains, tubes, trams, buses, bicycles, cars, taxis, and on the street. A fleeting expression, brief encounter or moment of spontaneity.

Baajero, I just looked through your Photoblog, and it is wonderful! Excellent work! Your images are gorgeous and I love the titles you choose.
