Photographing flowers can be one of the hardest things to do. I have deep respect for any photographer who manages to do it well.
In these days I am trying different new things and shooting flowers is part of my adventure. To get myself inspired I collected some of the best photographs of flowers that I could find on flickr. I hope that you enjoy these 41 delicious flower photographs as much as I do. Enjoy and get inspired!

I LOVE shooting flowers, because of the challenge, but also because of the almost limitless variety of shape form and colour they offer. They are also incredibly beautiful.
Here are some of my flower photos on Flickr.
To be a bit unique, I’ve also experimented with 3D flower photography, something I really want to do more of.
The selection you have found for us is truly inspiring and beautiful! I think I’ll have to shoot some more flowers this weekend :) Thank you!
While mine aren’t as good as these, I’ve got a couple interesting flower photos.

:)
Quiet an interesting collection you put together!
I have a few flowers, I know I have a long way to go…

These are quite lovely. But there are SO many flower photos out there, because so many of us love looking at them and trying to capture what we see. So how do we make our flower photos better?
I just discovered how interesting plant photography can be a few years ago. This collection is exquisite and superbly refeshing. I look for flower subjects frequently and now am inspired to look for more.
I recently finishing viewing the flower photos and I would like to know the data on how these photos were made. After all we are in school. I can get the data on the photos I take but not on other peoples. Your help would be appreciated.
Wow, gorgeous bunch of shots!
I agree with Cappy1927. We are all learning. When pictures
are submitted, we would love to hear how it was taken. All
the pictures were great. The man holding a Pentex camera caused me to wonder what the “handles ” were on the camera.
Is this common for pentex cameras? I thought the handles sure would help stablize hand held shots—right?
I love it when you do posts like these. Please, keep them up!
My tips on photographing flowers:
1. get down on your knees or even flat on the ground; that’s where the flowers are. It’s like photographing kids, get down to there level.
2. take the time to look at them, turn around and around for more point of view and you’ll see your shot taking shape.
3. find the light! fill flash is often great to capture more details of these beauties.
4. watch the background… often shooting slightly downwards remove a whole lot of undesired stuff behind. Keeping a very narrow depth of field will also help achiving this.
Happy shooting!
I’ve also got a Flickr flower photo gallery here:

Brilliant snaps! Makes me want to go out and take some more pics :)
Very nice shots… I can see how this can inpire you to buy that next macro lens….

One of them is not a flower :)
Which one are you referring to? If you’re talking about the black and white shot, it’s calla lily leaves, which is not a flower, but it’s also not a shell…?!
Hi !
All the photos are great.
Had a nice effect on me to go shooting the flowers.
thanks.
Truly inspiring but also makes one think whether one should just give up now!!! Great shots.
very inspiring shots - I love the ones by rosemary especially. thanks for posting these!
Very beautiful and inspiring. Thank you God for creating so much beauty!
I give the credit firmly to mother nature, and of course the extremely talented photographers who captured the beauty.
Fantastic shots. I love the ones with the reflections in the water droplets.. truly inspiring stuff. I have been photographing quite a lot of flowers myself lately and this just gives me more reason to do some more.
Maybe my next lens will be a macro lens.
My 14-year-old nephew picked up my digital camera yesterday and took some of the most beautiful pictures of flowers I’ve seen. I would love to share these with this site because he doesn’t even own a camera. I’m wondering if we should make the investmemt for him, but need an expert’s opinion of his photos. How do I submit one?
Some very inspriring photos. Wish there were mountains like that in the UK :)
Flowers are one of my favorite subjects to photograph (I also enjoy animals and rock formations/faces). You can view my photos at http://innerbeing.aminus3.com/portfolio/.
I not only will get down to flower level, I try and use the sun to my advantage as it lights up the inner part(s) of the flower(s).
I absolutely love the macro/super macro on the Canon S3IS…it lets you get down to 0″ and on many occasions I’ve ended up with pollen on the lens as I didn’t realize I was that close.
I got another photo of another flower a lion tooth

This was kinda tricky to get but I got it in the right moment :D Hope you enjoy :D
There are so many fabulous flower photographers on flickr it’s a bit befuddling to me why the author of this post simply posted multiple photos from the same few people. They’re lovely, of course, but it would be nice to have seen some other photographers and styles showcased among the 41. Just a few examples from my own contact list:

Those are all lovely shots! I agree with Serge, he offers great tips! I always forget how I can use my flash, even in the middle of the day, to get all those details.
Hi,
Each of those fotos is a beauty for itself. Those colors are just vibrant and wonderfully looking for the viewers eye.

Beautiful! How would your house look if you had wall-sized images such as these on them?

A superb collection!
My comments may sound like cliches, but there’s a lot of truth in cliches. This collection is awesome and inspirational.
AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL
Fabulous photography
Most of the photos here post on your blog are “all rights reserved” they need each and every one of the photos owners permission to post on your blog and you being a member of Flickr, should know better. I have notified some of the owners of the photos that their license has been violated. You did the right thing to link back but that is only for photos not using the “ALL RIGHTS RESERVED” CC license. I suggest you google Creative Commons and learn what each license symbol means on diff photos.
Breathtaking is the only word.
