Awesome set of reflections! I’m guessing this week we’ll be looking at reflections
Here’s one that I took not too long ago – it’s nothing compared to what’s posted above!

I thought I had my favorites picked out, but as I scrolled through the rest – they’re all simply gorgeous. The photographers should be very proud of such beautiful work. What a lovely way to start my Friday!

I liked the golden mountain most. Here is one of mine, of a high altitude lake in India, Dhankar Lake.

Such a beautiful selection of photos. I recently took this photo of reflections in an ice covered lake in the UK. http://www.earthandsky.eu/?p=88

What’s my favorite? I like them all! Nicely done! Although the 11th photo, the one with the bird about to land, that’s the winner for me. To get that shot with that kind of color (if natural and no PP involved), well, let’s just say it would be very difficult to try and replicate that shot. You must be waiting to shoot at the right place at the right time and must have clicked the shutter at the exact moment just before the bird landed.
I also use reflections in my type of photography – Automotive Photography.
When I take my still shots, sometimes having a body of water around, even a puddle, can give that much needed oomph to spice up a photo. Much like this still shot of an orange Ford Focus ST with its reflection on a puddle of water:

The Cloud Gate (Bean) sculpture in downtown Chicago makes for some really cool reflections. This is the best shot I’ve gotten. It’s cool even though it’s raining.

A very nice collection of photos but a majority of them have had fairly heavy-handed HDR processing applied to them. A lighter, subtler touch would have conveyed the same atmosphere without veering towards the cartoonish.

The first one is very striking, but I like several of them.
Here are a few I took while on a shoot for a client here in Asheville, NC.

Great reflection photos! WOW! Love “I’ve reached the end of the World”, “Quarter Past 5″, “Time to Reflect”, and “A Perfect Morning at Glacier National Park”. Reflections are well-loved by almost anyone – we’ve gone to doing a signed, limited edition copy of our ‘Sunrise at Sylan Lake’ too http://www.dakotavisions.com/blackhillsphotography/h1f083529#h1f083529

These are all beautiful. I think my favorites are the reflection of the city lights, the one with the fog, and the capsule looking building.

They are almost all exquisite but my fave would be one with the boy looking what seems to be a train window.

These are some of the best reflection photos I’ve ever seen.
I’m especially partial to reflections created as a side effect of rain, such as with the street in Poland.

I love the image of the building reflected in the puddle on the cobblestone road. I loved all these images. They are all well done, great post-production. Fabulous job.
I do have one question/comment ; Are shadows reflections? I never thought of them in those terms, but I am going to review my thoughts on this!

This is perhaps the most impressive collection of images dPS has put together for a blog post yet. Well done.
My own favorite shot of 2009 was a candid portrait of a boy on the beach shore unknowingly touching a reflection of himself:

Very inspiring, indeed.
Anyone else use a circular polorizer? I admit that I overuse mine (like I do with any piece of equipment for a few, er, years after getting it. But sometimes it works ok:

The first one is my favorite because I get resplendent overload after about one of these types of photos. It’s like eating chocolate….if you have the best a small bit satisfies the craving. My reflections aren’t resplendent but I love the subject so….

I like the shoots very brilliant this is what I am looking for. This man is a real PRO.
March 9th, 2012 at 10:47 pm
It’s great that you’ve given some attention to the wonderful world of reflections. However, the majority of these reflections are ruined by having the subject and horizon line dead centre in the images. The only one that’s worth anything is the old building reflected in the puddle by Jody Art. And what’s with all that HDR stuff? Really distracts from the actual ambiance of the existing light. Not a great collection of really great reflections at all. Come on, you can do better than this, surely!
March 10th, 2012 at 2:18 am
Some awesome photos, but maybe some are a bit over saturated for my liking? I end up thinking more about the colours than the composition and subject matter?

Some excellent photographs of reflections……I generally prefer the ones where the reflection does not look as if it’s an exact copy of the original, as a little blurring or ripples look more realistic in my opinion.
An “exact” reflection in comparison looks like the original turned upside down and then joined back to the original which can be done very easily using photoshop for example.

Hi there,,
I am amazed to see the way people click photographs.
I want to know whether they are edited or are the original images as clicked by the man himself??
