Fujifilm’s Next Cameras: The X-H2 and X-H2s

Fujifilm to release the X-H2 and X-H2s

The Fujifilm X-H2 and X-H2s will launch in 2022 – perhaps even as soon as the Fujifilm X Summit, scheduled for May 31st.

This news comes from Fuji Rumors, which has long reported on the two upcoming cameras and has carefully compiled a list of (rumored) X-H2 and X-H2s specs.

The X-H2 and X-H2s are successors to the Fujifilm X-H1, the rugged, high-end, APS-C mirrorless camera featuring powerful still and video capabilities. The X-H1 debuted back in 2018, and rumors suggest that the X-H2 and X-H2s will outperform the X-H1 in a handful of key areas.

The X-H2, for instance, will feature an impressive 40 MP sensor – the X-H1 only packs 24 MP – while the X-H2s will offer a respectable 26 MP. Expect image quality improvements all around, including upgraded low-light performance and enhanced dynamic range

The X-H2 and X-H2s will also be capable of filming 8K and 6K footage, respectively, versus the 4K/30p recording offered by the X-H1.

And look for all the standard X-H1 features in the X-H2 and X-H2s: in-body image stabilization, a high-resolution (and perhaps upgraded?) electronic viewfinder, and dual card slots. The new camera designs should also be large and robust for professionals who push their gear to the limit.

Fuji Rumors has reported a May 31st Fujifilm X Summit date, which promises to feature plenty of new Fujifilm technology. But will the company announce one camera? Both cameras? No cameras? While the details are still up in the air, FR does claim that the cameras will be unveiled on different days, led by the X-H2s. Therefore, it seems reasonable to expect an X-H2s announcement during the May Summit, followed – later in 2022 – by the X-H2.

So keep an eye out for any additional X-H2 and X-H2s news over the next few weeks. We don’t have long to wait!
