It may surprise some of you to learn that ‘monochromatic photography’ doesn’t mean ‘Black & White photography’ (But essentially all B&W Photographs ARE Monochromatic, just not the other way around) and that in fact monochromatic photography is any photograph that has a single colour/hue, but can have variations in different shades/tints of that same colour. What is monochrome color?
That said, Black and white photography (which renders a photograph in varying degrees of gray) is the dominant example of monochromatic photography. Read more here in another of our articles.
