The Power of a Puddle: Composition Case Study

Earlier this week we published a simple tutorial on the technique of using puddles to create amazing reflection images.

Today I was surfing on 500px and came across a great example of the technique.

While there’s no other shot of the scene shot from a higher perspective without the puddle in the foreground to compare the above shot to I would suspect that such a comparison would highlight the power of the technique to turn a fairly ordinary scene into something with real interest.

While looking at the portfolio of the above photographer – Daniel Antunes – it seems he’s in the habit of using this technique. Here’s a few more examples:
