Some news from DPS’ Transcending Travel eBook author Mitchell Kanashkevich. Those of you living in the UK will see his photograph (which was discussed in the eBook) on the cover of the October issue of “Geographical” magazine, along with a fascinating photo story on the Rabari – a nomadic Indian shepherd tribe.

You can head over to Mitchell’s blog for an insightful post entitled “When hard work pays off” where he talks about what it took to capture the images in the magazine and shares the twists and turns that the journey of the photographer takes after the photo taking process is finished. Highly recommended for all aspiring travel and documentary photographers.

Recently Mitchell teamed up with with David duChemin’s Craft and Vision team for an eBook discussing his photographic Journey through Java, Indonesia. This, like his DPS eBook delves into various travel photography related subjects and it is aimed at the more serious amateurs as well as aspiring professionals. Here’s what the editor has to say:

By exploring the idea of photographing in iconic/famous places Mitchell delves into the heart of what it takes to find your own voice and story. He’ll unpack the processes behind his creative decisions and he doesn’t shy away from practical topics; such as, types of light, off-camera flash in a softbox, and choosing the right angles. Mitchell doesn’t stop there. He goes beyond surface level impressions and shares his insights into how to create deep and meaningful photographs.
