This week your photographic challenge is to take and share an image on the theme of ‘In Motion’.
This gives you a great opportunity to practice a range of photographic techniques (like panning, zooming, slow sync flash) in a variety of settings – after all there’s ‘motion’ everywhere around us.
Before you head off to shoot your image – here are a few posts from our archives that might help with capturing some motion shots:
Once you’ve taken your ‘In Motion’ shots, upload your best ones to your favourite photo sharing site either share a link to them even better – embed them in the comments using the our comments tool to do so.
If you tag your photos on Flickr, Instagram, Twitter or other sites with Tagging tag them as #DPSINMOTION to help others find them. Linking back to this page might also help others know what you’re doing so that they can share in the fun.
Also – don’t forget to check out some of the great shots posted in last weeks Available Light Portraits challenge – there were some great shots submitted.

My first submission anywhere! I thought I'd use something other than blur to denote motion. This is my dog Zeke engaged in his favorite activity. The shot was taken on vacation in northern Minnesota last week. Sadly, I mistakenly set my camera to shoot JPEG only rather than JPEG/RAW, so my first time using Elements was a bit limited. I'll get it right one of these days.

I took this picture in April as a long exposure assignment for the film community college course I was taking. I took this picture with my Nikon N55 (28-80mm lens), film camera. I think it one of my best long exposures, and figured I would share it. Would like to enter it into the “In Motion: Weekly Photography Challenge”, but I'm new to this site & I am not sure how to do that entirely.

I just found this challenge. I am inspired to revisit this old photo subject sometime this week . I discovered the slow sync setting on the camera and that the figure spins both by accident the same night.

I clicked this shot at St.Pancras station in London. Well, I really wanted to capture the movement of the train, and somehow decided to position myself opposite the people waiting across the platform. Somehow the timing worked perfectly.
I noticed a motorcycle cop flying down the road and wanted to capture a lot of motion, but more so than a pan at say, 1/125. I reduced the shutter speed to 1/8, which added more of a frantic sense of movement to go with his hurried pace.

I wanted to show the energy of a concert. I switched to shutter priority and hoped the guitar would start sharp. Very happy with the result.
