Facebook Pixel CAMERA PHONE PICTURES: Weekly Photography Challenge

CAMERA PHONE PICTURES: Weekly Photography Challenge

This weekend your photography challenge is to take and share the best photo that you can – taken with a camera phone.

I know this excludes some of our readers (and to those it does I apologise and suggest taking part in this week’s forum assignment) but most people these days who have a mobile/cell phone tend to have a camera built in.

The cameras in phones are generally not as great as purpose built cameras – but that doesn’t mean you can’t take some great shots with them if you know what you’re doing. We always say that it’s not just the equipment that we use that makes a great image – I guess this week is about proving that and forcing us to think about things like composition, framing, subject matter etc.

For some examples of camera phone shots check out our ‘10 Cameraphone Photographs that Rock‘ post for a little inspiration and for a few tips check out our 12 Tips for Improving Camera Phone Photos tutorial (a little old but most of it is still relevant).

Your subject matter can be anything you like – portraits, landscapes, still life, action…. anything goes.

Once you’ve taken your “Camera Phone” image, upload it to your favourite photo sharing site and either share a link to it below or embed it in the comments using the our new tool to do so. Please also tell us what type of camera phone you were using!

If you tag your photo on Flickr, Twitter or other sites with Tagging tag it as #DPSPHONE to help others find it. Linking back to this page might also help others know what you’re doing so that they can share in the fun.
