Architecture: Weekly Photography Challenge

Architecture: Weekly Photography Challenge

This week your photography challenge is to take and share an image on the theme of ‘Architecture’.

Feel free to take any approach to it and photograph any kind of building or structure – big or small, new or old, impressive or not!

You might like to take a trip into an Urban area to shoot sky scrapers, or head out into the countryside to find a lonely house on a hill. You might want to photograph a building in decay or even shoot something being built. You could also shoot interior shots or exteriors – It’s totally up to you!

Once you’ve taken your ‘Architecture’ Images – choose your best 1-2, upload them to your favourite photo sharing site and either share a link to them or – embed them in the comments using the our new tool to do so.

If you tag your photos on Flickr, Instagram, Twitter or other sites with Tagging tag them as #DPSARCHITECTURE to help others find them. Linking back to this page might also help others know what you’re doing so that they can share in the fun.

Also – don’t forget to check out some of the great shots posted in last weeks After Dark challenge.

Greetings I am so thrilled I found your web site, I really found you by error, while I was searching on Yahoo for something else, Anyways I am here now and would just like to say kudos for a remarkable post and a all round enjoyable blog (I also love the theme/design), I don’t have time to read it all at the minute but I have saved it and also added in your RSS feeds, so when I have time I will be back to read a great deal more, Please do keep up the superb work.

Love this subject matter, but I didn't read any comments regarding the use of Tilt-Lens. I assume some of the shared photos may have used this special lens otherwise made corrections in their photo software. It would have been nice to hear who did what.

    (Shot for DPS Symmetry assignment)

The Shrine of Remembrance was built between July 1928 and November 1934 in remembrance of the 114,000 men and women of Victoria, Australia who served and those who died in the Great War of 1914-1918 — 89,100 served overseas and 19,000 did not return.

The people of Victoria felt that their debt to these volunteers, who had defended them at such great costs to themselves and their families, should be recognised by a worthy permanent monument of remembrance.

I took this photo on Friday, June 10th. This is the NYC Municipal Building. Built in 1914, it is one of the largest government buildings in the world and it has the second largest statue in the city, called "Civic Fame", sitting on top of its roof. (The largest statue is the "Statue of Liberty.")

I purposely left the photo with a high contrast so that you may sense the height of the building.

If you like my photos you can follow me on Facebook.

As a new poster to the challenge I must admit that I am confused about what is allowable to post. It seems that in the rules it states that the photo must have been taken during the week of the challenge, but I have noticed that a lot of the photos posted to the challenges were taken during an earlier time. I too posted a photo this afternoon that was taken last year. I do want to post within the rules, so please clarify. Thanks.
