Jeremy, sorry – you sound like you read me wrong, maybe I wrote me wrong…

The votes will be considered / looked at / etc… But every image will be looked at by the judges and considered on its individual merit, votes aside..

Glad you’re a DPS reader :) Go and win yourself a new camera bag while you’re at it…

@Rodrigo Thanks! :) I do want to make sure in all my whining (yes, I recognize it for what it is) that I do understand beta sites and contests always will have room for complaint. Even if I don’t place at all, I will still be a happy DPS reader and I won’t be ranting all over the place about being slighted. Perhaps it is my own fault for having put too much effort into a popular vote that didn’t matter, but I do hope it counts for something!

I personally have only 2 votes on my picture and despite all my efforts i couldn’t get any more votes. I still think the picture it’s good, whether it’s good enough to win the competition is up to the judges. But I think that if the winner is only the one with more votes this will make the contest a popularity contest instead of a photographic one.

Sorry, had to weigh in one more time as I read the comments above. I have been one of those early submissions, and feel fortunate to be jockeying for first place through the month. I know there will always be those that question the votes, but all my votes have come from legitimate efforts to publicize the contest and encourage people to vote. As I understand it, that is the spirit of the contest – to introduce more people to Photrade and DPS. I have publicized this on my social network, including Twitter, Facebook, FriendFeed and Flickr. Obviously I would like the photo to be judged on its merit, but from the outset this competition was presented as if the popular vote counted for a lot more than is being intoned now. I will wait and see the outcome, but having worked hard to help this contest get exposure and having obtained a fair share of *legitimate* votes, I have some nervous anticipation of being slighted simply because of my vote total.

I hope that is not the case, and of course whatever the final judging is, that is what the outcome will be. To get an honorable mention in the end instead of a worthwhile prize (I was hoping for that Rebel) will be a real letdown. I have my fingers crossed and have made every effort I can to help get the word out for all this.
