What’s Your Favorite Photography Destination?

Bryce Canyon National Park

Fire Above, Fire Below by Peter Carey

A friend once asked me a curious question and I’d like to offer it here to solicit your response.  The question was simple, it seemed, “If you could only have one photography travel destination, where would it be?”

For me, if I could only travel to one area for the rest of my days and take photos only in that one spot, it’d be Southern Utah.  That may be a bit big, but for me there is such diversity and life in that area of the USA that I could easily spend a few lifetimes.  Books like Edward Abby’s Desert Solitaire and Powell’s account of the first decent of the Colorado River fuel my desire to spend more time in the area.  Personally, I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface, spending most of my time so far in the National Parks such as Bryce Canyon, pictured at left just after sunset.

What’s your destination of choice?  If you could only visit one place or area for the rest of your life and that was the only place you were allowed to take photos, where would it be?
