I live at the foot of the Blue Mountains west of Sydney and my favourite landscape location is the Shipley Plateau which commands a view of the Megalong Valley and the hills beyond near Oberon.

The scene changes with the seasons and during the winter you will often get snowstorms coming across the valley. It is also a great place to capture spectacular sunsets.

You could take a photo every day from here and each one would be different. Whenever I am feeling the need to get out of the office and back to nature, I head for the Shipley Plateau with my camera. I never know what to expect.

Here is a photo I took of the snowstorms approaching in winter.

Mount Rainier in Washington state! Its presence is just amazing. The mountain just stands out. Also Grand Tetons in Wyoming.

Rainier:

I don't have a great picture from Teton, but here is a sample:

My favorite place on the planet to shoot landscapes is Philmont Scout Ranch in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of New Mexico. They are amazing mountains, and almost every view is worth taking pictures of. I've included links to a few examples:

The Sangre de Cristo Mts. are a great place to get combinations of mountain/plains shots as they butt up against the vast plains of the American Southwest. I would suggest to other photographers to look for photo ops even at their feet. I found many fantastic flowers, bugs, and animals to take pictures of besides the great mountain-scale shotes.

One of my favorite places to shoot is the finger lakes region of upstate NY. I love shooting waterfalls and this is one of the best places to do it. So many waterfall and so little time.

A few of my favorite spots in the US have already been mentioned (grew up on the Sonoma Coast and I love Zion!), but right now I am living in Germany so that has given me so many opportunities to explore more landscapes...

Being in not so sunny Germany has also given me a bit more practice with "moody" clouds and weather. I took this on a little afternoon cruise we took along the Rhine:
