Weekly Assignment

Affirmative (by jojo.nac)This week we finished the Affirmative assignment where the goal was to show us affirmation or approval of something. Affirmation was shown in a lot of different ways, but we managed to pick our favourite three. Our winner was jojonac for his thumbs up picture which pretty much showed the typical affirmative pose of standing, facing the camera with thumbs up. Our first runner up was Sandie for the wedding photo where it was clear that the people there were happy and all the bridesmaids really were showing their approval. And last but not least, our second runner up was DoreLo for a picture which almost could have wound up in the food photography assignment, but the expression on that doll when it was put next to the ice cream, well, you couldn’t help but think that the doll really did approve of the choice of snack.

whole wedding weekend 317ps (by sandiemg)for dps assignment (by Lubrico)This week we started our most recent assignment, The Eyes Have It. The eyes, are the window to the soul, they can be that tell tale sign when we’ve done something wrong, or they can show someone just how we feel. The eyes are so many things, and, in a portrait, they really help express the mood of the entire picture. In order to be eligible for the mini-contest for this assignment, you need to have taken your picture between 13-27 August 2008, the EXIF must still be intact, and you must include the words “Assignment:The eyes have it” somewhere in your post. Next week’s assignment is “Product Photography”. Say you’ve just been hired by *insert name of local huge department store here* to shoot an object that you would find on their shelves – how will you shoot it? how will you light it? how!…We’ll find out in next week’s assignment.
