Weekly Assignment

During the week we finished up our Workplace assignment. We wanted to see where you work and we got a great glimpse into the lives of our forum members. We had a tie for our winner this week, so first up is jojonac‘s “Start Two” which gives us a glimpse into the workplace of a flight engineer, a place few of us have probably been. This shot made good use of the very wide angle to get in a lot of detail in a small space. And the way this one was done, you almost feel like you are right there yourself. Our next winner then is homnibus‘ Computer Guy. He recently changed careers from being an electronics engineer to being self employed in photography and film. As photographers I think we can all relate to the need for more and more screen real estate. What we liked about this one is the use of different photos in each of the screens. That was what really set it apart from just being a cliche. And last but not least was ratkillah‘s keyboard shot. There were a lot of desk shots but what set this one apart was the ramp and leading lines along the keyboard which direct your view to the hand of someone working. Well done everyone!

workplaceWe also started our newest thread this week, Homelife: Chores Sometimes it seems like the work is never done. We come home from work only to have to do more work in our homes. So we want you to show us about your chores, and remember, try to do so in an interesting way. As always, a quick reminder of the rules. First, your photo must have been taken between 30 March – 13 April 2011. Second, your post must include the words “Homelife: Chores” and the date the photo was taken. Finally, your EXIF should be intact, and it’s useful if you can include some of the main points like camera, lens, ISO, shutter speed, and aperture in the text of your message. Next week we’re going to keep going with our homelife theme, but next week we want you to focus on Leisure Time, and try to do so while keeping the rule of thirds in mind.
