This Week in the Digital Photography School Forums (2-8 Aug ‘09)
Weekly Assignment
Trucks were the subject of our last assignment and we saw all kinds of them. Old, new, rusted and pristine. The goal of the assignment was to take shots that were more than snapshots and were good photos of trucks. Our winner this week was Dr_Drill’s 1950’s truck that has been sitting in the field for quite some time. The dramatic sky and the colours of this shot really made it stand out and bring the truck to life. Our first runner up was starbo’s old Chevy. The low angle and the tone of the shot really play into the antique look without looking heavy handed. And last, but not least was hsmmq’s well used work truck. It was nice to see a shot of a well-used but obviously still working truck. Well done everyone!

This week we also started our Album Cover assignment. The goal is to create a photo that could be used as an album cover so make sure that you leave room for the album name and band, and don’t forget that most album covers are square. But first, a quick reminder of the rules for everyone. First, your photo must have been taken between 29 July – 12 August 2009. Second, your post must include the words “Assignment: Album Cover” and the date the photo was taken to show that it is a valid entry. And finally, your EXIF should be intact and it’s helpful if you can include the main points (camera, lens, ISO, shutter speed, and aperture). Next week’s assignment will be “Mixing Elements”. The goal in the upcoming assignment is to mix two or more basic elements of earth, air, fire, and water.

Assignment: Album Cover
I have a got a pic that I took that would be a great fit for this assignment. It is not in the bounds of the dates you require but can I post it for critiquing purposes?
