This Week in the Digital Photography School Forums (19-25 Jul ‘09)
Weekly Assignment
This week’s assignment was Humor. Everyone needs a laugh some times, and this week’s photos were just the thing to help with that. There was one photo that really stood out and just cracked all of us up. In fact, I think it may have been our clearest winner ever this time! So congrats to rt80639 for “When Milk Goes Bad”. Well staged, well shot, and just downright funny. Next up was beretta_686’s photo titled “Cyber-Sex”. It was cute and funny at the same time. And last, but not least was shinyscale’s Photo in a Bottle. It was a very complex edit, but it was well done and did the job of making us laugh. A big thanks to everyone who added a little humour to all of our days this week!

We also started our Machinery assignment. Whether they are old or new, machines help us in many ways. But how interesting can you make a picture of something that is often a cold, inanimate object? As usual, a few rules for those of you who wish to participate in our mini-contest to have your photo featured on the blog. First, your photo must have been taken between 15 – 29 July 2009. Second, your post must include the words “Assignment: Machinery” and the date that the photo was taken. Finally, your EXIF should be intact, and it’s helpful if you can post the basics of the shot (e.g. camera, lens, ISO, shutter speed, and aperture). Next week we will be continuing the machinery theme with “Trucks”. While taking a picture of a truck isn’t difficult, turning it into a quality photograph is.
