I agree with you point of getting close, but I would like to add taking the time to look and really see. When you do that your perspective changes.

I was looking at the wrong Photograph. I first selected the beach photo for the critique. I then clicked on "terror kitten". I really like terror kitten. Very interesting with the shadows and all. This is what makes photography interesting.I had my students critique the photo also and they also stated that they wouldn't of changed any thing. We all suspect the photo was taken at sun rise or sunset to achieve all of the wonderful contrast.

Nice photo, but. As a photography instructor I critique a large amount of photos. I would of tried useing less back ground in this photo.
You shoot a 50/50 forground/background shot here. The horizon is right in the middle of your photo. Next time try to get in closer and try composing with a little more forground. A wider angle lens might help also.

HI Guys, I just thought I would drop by and say what an honour it was being asked to be featured as the photoblog of the week. You have all said such sweet things and I feel quite humbled! at the end of the day I am just a guy with a camera...or two! You all have it in you just believe. If I can be of help to anyone please drop me a line and I will help in what ever way I am able. Phil
