Too true, you’ve got to continually stretch what you do to maintain your creativity. If you’ve got the budget, use the RED, if not stick with what you’ve got and know, there’s less margin for error.

I think I’m missing the point. So, are we to understand that plasma/lcd displays will be placed all over town to display these “posters”?

Jay’s right, why shoot 12 MP video just to show this stuff on much lower resolution displays? Doesn’t make any sense except that you can take every single frame of that video and use it for high quality print but that’s not what they were after when they did this. So really, why go through all of this and use the Red One if a Canon 5D MK2 would have done the job, too? Personally, I think they just wanted to do something new to convince their customer. Most customers don’t know scrap of photography and can be sold anything. They propably charged them much more cause they’re using the Red One and that’s soooo innovative. It’s just stupid and blown totally out of proportion.

IMO, it might be impressive for the RED’s resolution and not much else, but that’s all over the place.

I think we might be missing the point slightly – Alexx wanted to shoot video but at a high stills resolution… I shoot video with my 5Dmk2 and it’s really nice, but the definition (when watched in a controlled environment) that the RED gives you is second to none…

They don’t loop, but I don’t get your point (@Jeff) it’s a poster first then a movie… A poster is a still image, they’ve just incorporated movement into it – I dare say that when it’s used on a wall somewhere to promote the movie that it doesn’t just roll once….

I really quite like to look at this stuff from time to time, it’s nice to have “how to make a helicopter out of a shoe box and a piece of string” low budget ideas, but from time to time dreaming about a RED and some amazing Briese lights is fun, no?

its the next step in images, there will be lovely images of landscapes an then birds will fly over, or great portraits and then a cheeky smile, Scary if you ask me.

But… they… don’t loop. Why was I expecting them to loop? I know why, because that would actually be impressive. This is just video with paused video at either end, with similar poses between start and finish.

Yes, the technology has improved but this has still not been executed for a real world situation ie a continuous experience for everyone, not just one viewer. Anyone with a 5D mark II and a ton of continuous lighting could do exactly the same thing.
