Posing: Weekly Photography Challenge - Digital Photography School

Posing: Weekly Photography Challenge

Over the last few weeks we’ve been publishing a series of posing guides. So far there are:

Today your photographic challenge is to choose one of the poses mentioned (there are 63 to choose from in total) and take a portrait with that pose. The objective is to practice your posing and portraiture.

Please note – this isn’t about finding a photo in your archives that matches one of the poses – it’s about taking some new photos and sharing them.

Feel free to either take a posed portrait of someone else or a posed self portrait if there’s nobody handy to photograph.

Once you’ve selected the ‘Posed Portrait’ image that you’d like to share – upload it to your favourite photo sharing site or blog and either share a link to it or – embed them in the comments using the our new tool to do so.

If you tag your photos on Flickr, Instagram, Twitter or other sites with Tagging tag them as #DPSPOSED to help others find them. Linking back to this page might also help others know what you’re doing so that they can share in the fun.

Also – don’t forget to check out some of the great shots posted in last weeks challenge – Hands challenge where there were some great shots submitted.

She made this very difficult to set up as she had a fit of the giggles, which quickly became very infectious.

Tried uploading earlier with an embedded image but my post isn't showing, so trying again.

This is a variation on pose 2 in the samples for women. We tried the sample pose but it just didn't feel right. My friend and model suggested this variation and we were pleased with the result.

Comments and constructive criticism always welcome.

    Cheers - Gaz.

Lifestyle/Education Style shoot in a park with a male model friend of mine

  • rich April 21, 2012 01:25 pm

I dragged my boy down to the park this morning to try pose 11 (behind tree), 12 (sandpit) and 13 (kicking ball).

Needless to say young kids are not that helpful when you're trying to capture a specific pose. Although we had lots of fun. The best pose from today turned out to be one which wasn't on the list, but I think it should be.

Kids look great when they are looking up at the camera.
