My Favorite Gear: Weekly Photography Challenge
This week your photographic challenge is a little different to normal – we’d like you to photograph your favourite piece of photographic gear and to share a few words on why you like it.
In some ways it is a little less of a ‘photographic technique’ challenge and more an opportunity to see the gear that the dPS community loves the most (and photographing products is a good challenge too).
Feel free to share a photo of your camera, a lens, a lighting accessory, a camera bag or any other photographic gear or accessory that you can’t envisage your photography without. It could be new or old gear, you can shoot it in any situation (including with you in the shot as a self portrait) – it is totally up to you!
Once you’ve taken and selected the ‘favourite gear’ image that you’d like to share – upload it to your favourite photo sharing site or blog and either share a link to it or – embed them in the comments using our embed tool to do so.
If you tag your photos on Flickr, Instagram, Twitter or other sites with Tagging tag them as #DPSGEARILOVE to help others find them. Linking back to this page might also help others know what you’re doing so that they can share in the fun.
Also – don’t forget to check out some of the great shots posted in last weeks challenge – Incomplete challenge where there were some great shots submitted.

As a New Yorker from yesteryear you can appreciate some of the protective gear that is used in a shoot.

For me, at least the lens is a “must have lens”. Is great for portraits. The Camera body is awesome, but may kill some budgets.

I use it a lot because of the greats bokeh and for portraits as well.

Lucky I still had my old camera before I bought my used (new to me) camera.
This old clunker has been reliable. It doesn’t have fancy features, just your basic DSLR MK1 model that has the most important qualities.

Just got this camera a week ago. Did my first self-portrait photo shoot today, and I loved the results! But nothing was more fun than actually doing the shoot

I take RC aerial photo / video. This is what I invented to view what the camera will take; one eye at the RC exacopter and the other one to the camera…

I really love my horseman camera. A horseman is 4×5 film camera if you’ve never heard of it before.
I handmade an EF adaptor to allow me to take digital photos with it. I’ve learnt so much about photography from playing with all of the different controls. It’s also allowed me to play with effects like tilt and shift.
