KITCHENS: Weekend Photography Challenge
Kitchens – we all have one (or at least should have access to something resembling one) – so lets make our kitchens the focus of this weekends photography challenge.
The task is simple – take the best possible shot that you can in your kitchen.
Let your imagination run wild – you might take a macro shot of something in your kitchen, you might take a shot out of your kitchen window, you may choose to sit a portrait subject in your kitchen, you could set up a still life shot on your kitchen table, you might try your hand at some food photography….. anything goes.
Note: We’re looking for ‘new’ shots – this is a challenge rather than a look through your archives for a shot!
Once you’ve taken your photos – choose your best 1-2, upload them to your favourite photo sharing site and share a link to them here in comments below or embed them in the comments using the our new tool to do so.
If you tag your photos on Flickr, Twitter or other sites with Tagging tag them as #DPSKITCHEN to help others find them. Linking back to this page might also help others know what you’re doing so that they can share in the fun.

I maintain a food blog called Within the Corners of my Kitchen. Here is an example of what I make inside my tiny, college, kitchen.

Can the ADMINS pls do something about this “cip” person/ad-bot? They are posting on EVERY article every day. They have been told very nicely that it is not appreciated and not the right way to go about what they are ‘after’. It is obvious that they don’t read the comments after posting nor care to. If they actually knew about photography they wouldn’t be asking for a kit lens. They would also know that a sigma or tokina etc would be a better financial option. They are taking advantage of your readers/subscribers for their own selfish cause. Please Ban them or do whatever to have them STOP advertising on here. Thank You.

Quote from the guidelines
Note: We’re looking for ‘new’ shots – this is a challenge rather than a look through your archives for a shot!
Only some Moderation will stop the wide abuse of this in all challenges
November 14th, 2009 at 8:49 am
Sorry for being an abuser.
In my defense I can say that my shots were made less than a month ago.
I can easily re-stage, re-shoot and re-process them tomorrow, in the morning light, so, technically, this would not be guideline violation.
My suggestion is to put some time limitation on the challenges, but not to require the submissions to be fresh from the camera :-)
Hope this reply does not constitute another abuse…
November 14th, 2009 at 9:33 am
Interesting! I could add cleverly edited photos. I could spend a bit of time on this, but at this time of night I decided to take a couple of cheeky shots direct from my Sigma 10-20mm for a laugh. I hope you can see the funny side……!

hi, this is my first time to participate in the weekend challenge, thanks for the opportunity:-) this was a double challenge because it’s also my first time to make gingerbread cookies! and I made them especially for DPS with the help of my son:-) I’d like to apologize because the pictures are far from professional and my son is a terrible model (he cannot stop moving even for the fraction of a second I need to make a picture!) and lighting is poor as well…The cookies weren’t a complete success either – I actually burned them a bit while making the pics but they’re delicious anyway:-)
