Thanks for sharing. Lightroom has lots of preferences and some of them are important to customize.

I have started lightroom a few months back…..and started with version 3……and I must say that I am loving it….the preferences, options, flexibility – everything is really amazing…

Wow..good advice indeed.
I have been using LightRoom3 for some time and has not even opened Photoshop since. It’s so much more easier, and the workflow is amazing.

Thanks for this, always good to have a vid you can just sit back and enjoy.
Couple of points:
proPhoto (external editing). Not one of my suppliers uses ProPhoto. Not one. Maybe it’s coz I’m in Australia but if I send in a proPhoto file, it gets sent back requesting I switch to sRGB. My setup sends images to PS as sRGB at 300 DPI, not 240 as you suggest.
Again, not a single supplier wants 240 DPI. You suggest that 240 is “optimal”. Can you back that up with an image that has been printed at 240 against one at 300?
I doubt very much there will be any loss of quality as you suggest – even if it is sharpened.
I guess what I’m saying is: If you’re working as a photographer and using pro printers/suppliers, your suggestions may not hit the mark.
If I were using your suggestions my canvas supplier would have a fit!!
Anyways, just my tuppence worth.
Love the site BTW! When are you going to do a video on creating presets? Now that I’d love to see.

It’s very well explained, and short enough not to get bored. I have one question. How can I set to apply the filters every time I open a folder in Lightroom 3?

@richard….the ProPhoto setting in prefs is only for editing in an external application such as Photoshop. Final export of the file is always done to a smaller color space such as Adobe 98 or sRGB.
