![]() I have a Nikon D40. 55-200mm lens I'm still in the learning stage as I play and play with settings and take tons of notes to review before I go out and try to shoot. Setting: RAW, WB-Auto, Manual settings: f18 @30 seconds. My WB reading was off, it had a blue haze so in processing I had to change my WB to kill that blue cast. I use paint shop pro(I'm sure I'm the odd duck as everyone has Adobe ) So next I split channel to CMYK and adjusted the curves layer ( played with the settings as I am still learning all this stuff ??)Then I combined the CMYK image. Did some layers for black and white clipping points, contrast, brightness, and a little saturation and sharpening. This doesn't come easy for me. I have books and notes everywhere for help. The morning was windy with light sprinkles. By the time I got out there and starting shooting, it was a wind storm and the rain was coming down harder. ![]() I took good notes so the next time I will be more prepared and try to reshoot a few feet back and adjust my WB before hand. The less processing I have to do, the better I feel! ![]() Any suggestions are appreciated TONS! |

I took these two when it just stopped raining, but some rain was still dripping down from the roof.

Can I ask, how did you protect your camera from the rain and mor eimportantly how did you protect it from the sea spray / salt that must have been in abundance in the atmosphere? |

![]() ![]() I had a ziplock bag over my camera until I was ready to shoot. This picture was taken near the lighthouse pier area of Lake Michigan. The only spray was the rain coming down. The waves were far enough away that their spray was not hitting me. It was only sprinkling out when I started shooting, but when the rain started to come down harder, I packed up my stuff and headed home
