For reasons I don't quite understand the channel section will sometimes not allow me to copy a color layer. Neverthless, I was able to muddle through and do a conversion as indicated. I am still not sure it is worth the trouble but may be in some cases. Using every trick in the book I was able to come up with the following that I am fairly pleased with. I can tell you that I recently found a new way of doing sepia that I am really happy with (Duotones) and am converting all my B&Ws as fast as I can, so that is done here as well.
