I really like both macro shots. I have never tried anything like this but I love the result you got so I will give it ago.

Thanks going to go out and try it again using your method. This photo was hand holding the camera and moving till i found the sweet spot

I'm new to DPS and I'm in the process of taking a photography course. This is a really neat post! I definately want to try it out again!

I used natural light- set up my tripod outside. But honestly, that's mostly because I don't have any good artificial lighting- just the on camera flash.

Then I did a lot of post-processing. For everything but the eye, I used the levels tool to lighten it up, and desaturated it almost completely. For extra impact, I used a white soft brush with the opacity set to about 30% to smooth out the wrinkles a bit.

Yeah, i used window light, coming from the side my eye is looking, hope that helps : )
