Yes, I was wondering if I could remote trigger my speedlite. When I read my manual it sounds like you have to have a light mounted on the camera as a master and then you can have a light off the camera as a slave. I have a 580ex, for my cannon 30d. I'll have a look at strobist to see if they say something about it.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure there are lots of posts on the strobist flickr forums about this. I shoot Nikon, though, so I can't help with the details.

jus'learnin, I think you will need another Canon 580ex. The one on the camera will control and trigger the off-camera one. You will need to consult the manual for the controls to put the flashes in the proper modes.

Akshay -- Thanks so much! Posting my shots and experiences here has in some way made me feel "accountable" so I keep pushing myself. This place has been very important to me in my learning, both reading from all the other members and sharing my own pictures.

As to you being single -- get a girl in front of a camera and make her feel beautiful. You'll be showing us shots of your new wife in no time!

Thanks to Sime for transferring these threads over to the new tutorial section! I know there hasn't been recent activity, but if new questions come up feel free to post and I will help where I can.
