Default Portrait Practice needed

Hi everyone,
I am so excited, eagerly awaiting delivery of my Birthday present (thanks darling husband & Mum!), an SB-600 Speedlight for my D90.
Can't wait to start exploring this new toy & see what difference it makes to my indoors portrait photography, an area I dearly want to improve in. I'll be trawling this site for tutorials & tips.
In the meantime, here are a few pics of my kids from the last few weeks, apart from my soldier boy shot from last summer.

Very nice set Paula, she does have beautiful blue eyes, I don't think she was thrilled about the tub picture though.
I have the SB-600, I think your going to like it! Can't wait to see some shots after you get it!!

What beautiful kids! You'll have so much fun with that new toy! I love the clarity of the third and the softness of the first.
