I know it is cropped very tight but I really had no choice. There were people just to the right of the roses that I didn't want in the photo.

I personally like the second one much better, there is just something about flowers that looks more magical when it's close up. Most of my "art photography" is flowers and i find that taking a shoot of an entire bouquet just looks..meh, like "hey look at those, they were pretty", but if you really get into your flower, real close, you can then find there textures and all there intricate designs, which is beautiful, stunning....wow, I'm out of words on how flowers are designed with such a precise miniature details...breath taking. try macro, if you want even more fun, get a lens barrel, to attach between your lens and camera, then look at those flowers, i'm sure you'll discover a world of magic...it's so fun!!!
The first one is just close up:

This one is with a barrel

And sometimes, you can find surprises, sit patiently in a bunch of flowers with your barrel in macro mode and anything can happen...

Thank you for the information. I am so new to photography that I'm not sure I understand what you are talking about. But I love your pictures and will ask my college instructor to explain. Thanks to everyone for your kind comments. I'm off to try to take pictures of a bottle of water that has frozen in my fridge. It has this amazing Ice Crystal down the center. This should be fun.
