Default A nice sunset

I spent a good two or three hours looking for places in my area to take a nice sunset photo on google earth, I finally found a spot about 5 minutes from home, down a hidden narrow stretch of road surrounded by farms in an area called "Farley". Once I found the ideal spot, it took me a good 10 minutes to get my tripod setup, camera setup, attach filters, etc. After that I spent about an hour randomly taking shots at different stages of the sun setting and moving the tripod around, recomposing and taking more photos...

Anyway... here is the best photo of the bunch:

Nikon D5000, 50mm lens, ISO100, 1/160 @ f/8, Manual Focus

Edit: and this is for the after glow fans...

Nikon D5000, 50mm lens, ISO100, 1/60 @ f/8, Manual Focus

To give the sunsets more pop, I used two filters on the lens: Neutral Density #4 filter, Graduated Neutral Density 'Neutral Grey' filter. I also set the white balance to 'Cloudy' and the picture mode to 'Landscape'. The only post processing done: saturation and jpeg conversion.

Admittedly, I could have used my 55-200mm lens to zoom in and framed the shots a little better, but I think the final images work.

Thanks for viewing.

deepspring ,

Fantastic sunset capture . I do seem to like the warmer tones of the second one ( don't know why ? ) Maybe cause it's so darn cold here at the moment

Thank you!

It's very hot and humid here (east coast of Australia) at the moment. I'm loving all these snow photos that are coming in on DPS.
