Default Water drops on CD

Was just playing around with catching the colour spectrum through putting water drops on a CD. I think would have been easier with a macro lens (don't own one yet :-( )

Water drops on CD

I hope you like it!

So awesome!

I'm going to have to steal your idea and try this myself

How was the setup - i.e. the lighting in particular?

Superb effort !

Some advice I found helpful doing this use a smear of cooking oil on the CD first and wipe it around then off this makes the water Bead up more into a more rounded ball.... go on try it look imy flickr to see what I mean won't hijack yer thread with my shot.

Default Thanks!

Thank you all for your positive comments!

@Patrick...the composition was in the crop...with my len's focussing distance, I coudn't get that close and maintain focus...so a little bit of cheating on that

@PhotogAve...not my idea at all...saw the same thing done on these forums and as today is a rainy day I thought I would give it a go. The lighting was nothing special, just the fluorescent light above my front door (this was shot on the kitchen table). The key part is to find the angle that the light reflects off the CD that gives the colours you want...a little fiddly, but not complicated. Background is just a black t-shirt laying under the CD.

@FoG...thanks for the tip...I will try that next time

Thanks again for the positive comments!

Nicely done....the composition is good and the color is fabulous. Jonathan, this is nicely done, and although I've seen similar posts in the past, I really like this one.
