Default unexpected visitor

A hawk decided to land in my neighbors front yard. We see them flying over the highways but really land in our residential area. He stood about a foot and a hafl tall and just sat there eating a frozen squirrel for about a hour. Regrettably I finally found my limitation on my 18-55 kit lens trying to get close up and not scare him.

pjflan7 I plan on getting one soon. Im thinking of getting a Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO DG MACRO for a budget zoom lens. I got to about 8 feet from him but I didn't want to spook im off.

Nice shots of the fellow. A prime example of how wildlife has adapted to living with us instead of letting us push them out of their former homes. I see growing numbers of hawks in our metropolitan area over the recent years, soaring and then diving for prey, as well as foxes and coyotes hunting in suburban areas. Small pets must be watched very carefully nowadays.

Great job!! I'm so jealous! I'm normally without my camera or have the wrong lens on the camera to capture the hawks... happened to me in the dang cemetery this morning even
