Soft light! Proportional to the square of the distance! Argh, shadows!
You make the very good point that there is sometimes a requirement for hard lighting, strong contrast, and sharp shadows. Especially when dealing with characters like this alleged cookie thief. Trouble maker if I ever saw one... Well done and TFS. Edit: Flash: Off camera 400ws strobe with narrow honeycomb grill set to 1/8th power. What the heck kind of software are you running that can pick this up into EXIF?
