looking for advice on photo ,i took it with my sony a100,24mm sigma and tripod ,never did any touches or crop yet.....looking for suggetions on this photo subject was to be the trees and their reflections

Welcome to DPS...you did get a nice reflections in the water....personally I wouldn't crop any of it....I really like the whole look of it all.

reflections are never at their best on an overcast day with ice on the water...wait for a sunny or billowy clouds day...the blue sky will light up the water.....as for cropping, none needed here for this particular shot as you have good foreground and yet you need the upper right portion for your background requiring the whole frame to be used.

I kinda like the ice forming a ring around edge of the ... lake?... I may be wrong but it seems your horizon is a little crooked, like sloping down to the right?
