Default Over Engineered

Needed to get out and clear out the cobwebs in my head after being stuck in the house ill for a while. So went for a walk with the camera as one does along our local canal to the basin where the canal boats are moored for the winter. I have worked on these very lock gates and helped restore them and was always amazed at the "Over Engineering" that went into them. I doubt we could afford to do it these days but glad to see they will be around for at least another 100 years.

I hope you enjoy these images. Have a lovely day.

These are fabulous shots, you just inspired me to try the same on the lock gates we have in Bradford-on-Avon! Hope I could do half as good a job as you have done here

Thank you all for your lovely comments, it's so nice to know that you enjoyed looking at them. These are pretty easy to achieve on a long exposure. Problem I always have is blowing the sky, especially when it's full of snow.
Dogtaggart, I look forward to seeing your results soon and I am sure they will be just as nice as these of mine.
Have a lovely day folks.
David

Hi David...love the effect you've captured with the water. Are these from the Chesterfield Canal by any chance?

High Chalkie, thanks for the comment, these lock gates protect the Langley Mill boat basin not far from where I live. I want to try for some more canal images so if you know of any nice locations I would be so pleased if you could let me know
Thanks and Happy New Year.
David.
