Default Flying Models

Being inspired by F4F Widcats photos of the indoor flying shoot , I decided to share some shots from one of last summers outdoor events .

I am an avid model builder of scale electric powered models and having this hobby I wanted to be able to capture photos of my models flying for a scapbook of planes I've built . They don't last forever due to their light balsa construction , so it is nice to get some record of them . Keep in mind these are fairly small models ( Less than 3ft wingspan ) and some can fly rather fast and can be diffucult at times to get good shots .

Enjoy

-John

Cool shots, John. I love the Piper, but the P-40 is my fave. Nice caps in flight! TFS

Thanks ,

The 2nd is a friends J3 Piper Cub he built for a model contest . The shot was taken during the afternoon "magic hours" . Even model airplanes like these times best , not only for the great natural lighting , but also because winds tend to be minimal at these times also . Being light models under a pound , they tend to get tossed about quite easily in anything over 10mph ...and this is usually where mishaps tend to happen upon landings ( where the breezes can cause an abrubt stall )

equilution ,

Thanks ,
The P40 is my favorite too , and was a prototype model for the designer . It has a 30" wingspan and flies quite nicely . He was happy with the outcome
