Default The Shoe Tree

Found this tree last year whilst driving to Paris (in Ontario, Canada, that is...small but pretty town). Was quite mystified orginally with it and asked around, but it was just started by a woman who thought it would be fun to nail some shoes to a deadish tree on the side of the road. Anyway, by the time I went back recently to take these, lots more shoes had been added so made for better shots. Yay!

pink sneaks

boots and hearts

treads

p.s. Can't decide which is better, number one or number three.

With holes in them!
There is another shoe tree I've seen in Idaho. Not nailed in, but hundreds of them hanging from branches.

Isn't it great to run across something so strange? I was on my way home down a backroad one nite about a week ago and ran across one here in Southern Indiana. I had to stop and take pictures too!

Awesome shots. We have a bicycle fence in NZ, it is just outside of New Plymouth in a little place called Egmont Village. It is a "blink and you will miss it" place on the main road heading south. The fence is outside a backpackers hostel. (sorry, dont have any pics of it). I think there is a Bra fence here in NZ somewhere too. TFS. Great pics.

What a kick! My favorites are #3 and #4. Great colors, good composition, fun content. Thanks for sharing these! And thanks too, to Becky for the ones in Indiana. Michelle, I'd love to see the NZ ones!

Fascinating! When I'm in suburban Melbourne (which I try not to be, very often), I sometimes see pairs of shoes hanging by their laces over electric lines (telegraph wires, although they're not, really). I've heard some stories that they indicate drug dealers in the vicinity, although I don't really see how that could be the case.

I like your shots much better. Thanks for sharing them.
