Default Forest Impressions

Newbie here (well, I've been lurking a while anyway). I thought I'd pimp these shots as they're some of my recent favorites. These were all intentional motion blurs and/or defocusing of autumn colors.

Forest Impression 9

Forest Impression 8

Forest Impression 4

Forest Impression 1

Thanks for looking!

What a great series of shots. Love the first two. Would you like to give us a brief idea on how you have taken these?

Very interesting set of abstracts. Looks like a cool technique. I'd love to hear more about your technique.

Those are really interesting! I like them a lot, especially the first two. The colors are very interesting. They remind me of some macro shots I took of corn husks. Can't wait to see more

Thanks everyone for the welcome & the compliments

I've been experimenting a lot lately with intentional blur. So as for technique (for the 1st 3 shots), it's simply: move the camera! Simple, right?

There are a few subtleties. In order to get "smooth" lines, I had to move the camera in the direction of the trees. I also had to experiment with different shutter speeds to balance between motion blur from camera shake vs. intentional camera movement. There are some other shots in this series on my flickr account that show that kind-of "sideways" streaking.

I encourage you all to try it - you'll have to go to a smaller aperture especially on a bright day, in order to get slow enough shutter speeds.
