Default New here.....

First of all... Hello everyone! Michael here.

I am new to the whole taking better photos thing, and in the last 2 days I have read so many tips on these forums... I never really put much thought into taking good quality pictures until last month when my daughter was born! I currently just have a point and shoot Samsung L830, but I have ordered a Nikon d90 so that I can delve into the photography world much better... Enough about me.. I wanted to share my favorite photo of my little one.... I played with it in photoshop to make it B&W and to get rid of some of the Background.

Hopefully you guys wont be to brutal on me as I am new to this... but hey criticism if just that... if someone that knows more than me can give me suggestions I shall sit here with wide open ears!

Hi Michael

Welcome to DPS and congratulations on your little girl, she is adorable! My only suggestion would be, maybe a different background (prop her up on a couch) or something. Keep shooting and posting

Yeah... I realized that after taking the picture of course.. lol

Thanks for the input... I am going to try and redo this shot since she can somewhat sit up by herself now (at least better than a few weeks ago)

WELCOME to DPS Michael. What a lovely little girl. You won't get any rough critique on this forum...you want the critique section if that's what you're looking for. But if you are looking for a place to share your photos and make friends that are amazing...this is the place for you.

Well as I am still new here, and to better photography as a whole... I dont think that I am quite ready for brow beatings just yet! i will stick to taking what images come to mind and build from there!

Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone, I can see from my very short time here that there are many knowledgeable people here that I shall learn many many things from!

Hi Michael and a warm welcome to DPS.
i really like the shot, as a simple thing you could have done to this photo was removing the chair, one thing that isn't good in a photo is things sticking out of your subjects head, just a simple thing. but i will certainly change the photo. or as suggested lay her on a couch maybe, because that wil also give you an even background.. but what a lovely daughter you got!

Hey, welcome to DPS!
Congrats on the little girl, and as others have said maybe put her on the couch for a picture would be nice, but anywho, good job
