Default Praying Mantis Close Ups

Here are a few images I took today of a Praying Mantis. I have been looking for one to shoot. I pulled up to one of my jobs and I seen it in one of the plants in the front of the house. I had to go grab the camera and start snapping away. I even moved him to try to pose him. LOL

I haven't seen a praying mantis for years. I remember in grade 5 we were doing a unit on them in science or something, and our teacher took us to a park and we caught some and brought them back and put them in a screen covered aquarium so we could study them.

These are great shots. It looks like he/she is watching you - or posing for the camera!

Very nice shots. I wonder why it is always so exciting to see a praying mantis.

By the way, I saw a pair of praying mantises on the side of my house a few weeks ago:

Wow! Very nice close-ups. I never had the chance or the time to set up a shpt like this. I might just have to try it. How long did it took you?

There was no setup I shot these hand held with my Tamron 70-300 lens.

Thanks for all the comments

Very nice Frank. These are so crystal clear, I can see all the details of its eyes and face, something I can't see using just my own eyes!
