Default Have a look.

Found this little fellow in my garage on the weekend, how he got there I will never know.
Not the best of pictures because the have the cutest little faces, but he was very shy.
When they are threatened they curl up into a ball and dig themselves into the ground and no amount of cohesion can move them.
We put him on his back so he wouldn't dig in and were hoping he would extend himself fully to move.

Echidna-1

he didn't want to co-operate though and turned very quickly to make his escape

Echidna-2

in less than a second he had wedged himself into the ground and didn't budge until nightfall.

Echidna-3

so I didn't get any cute pictures maybe next time, there seems to be a lot around at the moment.

What a cool critter to find in your garage. I just have Black Widows and they are not cute. I look forward to seeing a cute face should you be lucky enough to capture one.

What Is it Michele? Looks like a Porcupine. Great Captures, too bad he was so shy!
Thanks for sharing this

Nicely captured Michele, and nicely done for allowing our little friend to eventually make its escape.
Its a good job TV celebrity and survival expert Ray Meers didn't find it, he's have have shown us how to make fire from its quills, 23 ways to cook and eat it and how to wear its skin as a sun-hat

cheers beach

Hopefully it won't be too long, there seem to be a couple wandering around at the moment and they are territorial so I should see them again. It's just a matter of getting them before they dig in.

Michael.
It's an Echidna Michael an Australian marsupial, he eats ants and any insect that live in the leaf litter or under logs. His only means of defense are those spikes he has that are really strong and sharp. The spikes are capable of punchering your tyres if you accidently run one over or even over a dead one on the road.

Well Beach, we Australians are very versatile but we aren't allowed to eat the wildlife (unless you are a "true" Australian, but I won't go any further on that subject I've already been in trouble for mentioning weed whackers. Anyway I've been told it tastes like chicken) The quills would make good weapons they are so strong and sharp and I'm not to sure about a hat, you certainly wouldn't want to sit on it.
