Default Stars

A couple of shots from last night watching the Perseids.

This shot faces northeast, Cassiopea is the 'W' shape of stars just above the trees. I lit the trees by firing a bunch of test fires from my flash while standing under them.

This shot faces south, towards Glasgow hence the orange colour from the streetlights. The brightness was only barely perceptable to my eyes, but on the long exposure it has added up into this sort of sunset orange. The bright "star" is actually the planet Jupiter with the star Deneb Algedi just to the bottom left of it.

The exposures are a little too long as you begin to see the star trails, but overall I like them and hope you do too.

Thanks for looking,

DHG

I spent over an hour trying my luke, came away with nothing, I managed to see a few though. I may try again tonight.

Cheers, Ian

I was the same, saw loads but didn't catch any in camera. I only took about 20 photos in total, and on three of them just after I killed the exposure one of the bloody things shot overhead. The Jupiter image in particular, one lit up just beside it after I closed the shutter... it would have been a cracker of a shot

Still, my first ever time watching any meteor shower, and also my first time figuring out the exposure for star shots so all in I had a good night

Thanks for the reply.

Great shots. I wanted to go out last night and take some photos myself but my camera gear is all packed away now ready for my holidays.

Thanks for the replies folks

Yeah, Glasgow is 53 miles away from there and it's light pollution still has so much effect on the sky.

A couple of very interesting shots. I like the second one because it looks like a sunset, but you can see the stars above. very nice.
