Default Kingfishers .........

Well I went back to my favourite spot to catch the Kingfishers feeding. You can understand where they get there name from when you see them dive from a tree, catch a fish, and then off they go at some speed. It's hard to capture them. However, I thought I had some good shots but are not really happy with them due to focus. Need to work on more options of exposure to get the right shot.

At least I caught some with the fish that I thought I would share with you anyway. Fotos have been heavily cropped.

Kingfisher

Camera: Nikon D300
Exposure: 0.001 sec (1/1600)
Aperture: f/4.0
Focal Length: 180 mm
ISO Speed: 200

Kingfisher

Camera: Nikon D300
Exposure: 0.001 sec (1/2000)
Aperture: f/2.8
Focal Length: 200 mm
ISO Speed: 200

Kingfisher

Happy after eating the fish ......

Camera: Nikon D300
Exposure: 0.001 sec (1/2000)
Aperture: f/4.0
Focal Length: 200 mm
ISO Speed: 200

Kingfisher

Where it dived from - not the best of fotos as too many branches in the way.

Camera: Nikon D300
Exposure: 0.001 sec (1/2000)
Aperture: f/2.8
Focal Length: 200 mm
ISO Speed: 200

Bernz these are fantastic shots. The first one is brilliant with the colours and to capture the Kingfisher with a fish in its mouth, cool. I so want a Nikon even with heavy cropping these are really clear. Don't ya just which birds would land in trees with less branches, lol but still a great capture anyway.

Thanks Angela, yes foto was taken late in the day with the sun low in the sky. Great time to catch them. They are quite some distance away when taking the fotos and one can't get much closer - as soon as I work out the correct exposure I may then try my teleconverter with my VR 70-200mm lense. Cheers, Bernz

Thanks Dave - yes starting to love the bird action. I usually shoot sports, in particular cricket. Cheers, Bernz

These are my favorite birds. You did a great job. I have yet to get a good shot of one yet. Your kingfishers have more color than ours.
