Default Leave a light on for me...

Some pics from Whitehaven on the west coast of the UK famous for being the opnly place where America invaded in 1778 by John Paul Jones ....

More details here... Whitehaven attack

The lighthouse is on the end of the Harbour weathered and almost derelict but there are three within the harbour itself the rest are needing some tlc and the pics are a tad dark so will post after processing. as the weather was plain dull. excuse once again the photomatix watermarks as usual still not got around to buying it.

Hello FoG, very nice shots you have there. I really like #4, I would imagine that that position was once really occupied just like that. Now regarding this John Paul Jones fella, what did you all do, aggravate him?

Great Caputures FoG! and a really interesting bit of history from the link you provided.
I'd never heard of this battle and really enjoyed reading it.
Thanks for Sharing these
Michael.

Thank you Michael .. I was fascinated by the history in the place will be going back for a day when the weather is better as we only passed through. My other half spotted the information on the invasion as we were wondering why they had a fort and canons on the dockside... have to say do wonder why the gunner is busy looking at the flowers though.....

ahhhhh just read the story and he is John "spiking" the guns so woould explain the looking over the shoulder.

Looks like you chose the perfect day to shoot these. Love the bright reds against the dark clouds on the third one. I also love the b&w shot.
