Default The Owl Cluster (and lightning)

More from my astronomy efforts. It wasn't the best night for observations (or photography). Lightning began far to the South of the observatory just as the sun went down. About the time it finally started getting dark enough to take pictures the clouds started rolling in. I was able to get a couple of five minute exposures of a group of stars known as the Owl Cluster. (about 10 years ago a writer for one of the astronomy magazines said it reminded him of E.T. of movie fame... and it's kind of stuck) I like Owl Cluster better.

I actually posted a picture of this in another thread http://digital-photography-school.co...oon-stars.html a little while back when I was using my other telescope without a guidescope. Kind of interesting how things change with new knowledge and equipment.

I tried to make it "official" looking.

I also tried taking pictures of the lightning. Unfortunately, I was already using the remote trigger on my astronomy setup. So the lights in the forground look kinda funky in most of them. I may have to get another trigger soon.

Thanks, Kimi. I hope that everyone that looks at my astronomy pictures finds some amount of inspiration in them. Plus, I know that not everyone is into buying a telescope and looking at or photographing the stars. Thanks to people like me, others get to enjoy it for free.
